This was the card that Maryland should have played from the beginning rather than clumsily trying to block transfer. Coming out of the gate with a tampering charge when the transfers were granted might have actually gotten Maryland some public sympathy and, as others have noted, it quite likely would have effectively ended any liklihood of DOB going to Vandy as the school would probably not have welcomed the scrutiny that would have come with it.
