possession for less than 25 grams in the state of NY is not a crime but a violation. I understand in Maryland it's 50 grams or less to be a misdemeanor. We had an assistant coach arrested/accused of misdemeanor. He wasn't suspended for the season.
Oh and btw, Maryland student athlete handbook, at least the version under DY, stated that athletes accused/arrested of misdemeanors could participate in their sport. Felony arrests not.
I can buy the team rules argument, legality is really a slipper slope as so many kids have been arrested and likely found guilty of misdemeanors and were not suspended for a year.

You ever hear of addition by subtraction? I have no vendetta against the kid. I feel sorry for him. He has made decisions that will hurt him the rest of his life. I don't think you really understand what makes a good team. There has to be a high level of trust between players and coaches and the players with each other. You think ANYONE with the program was able to trust Stoglin? You think everone with the program wondered on a daily basis what they would be dealing with? Everyone wondering if he was complying with rules, going to class, staying off of drugs, how he was going to behave that day etc????? The constant "drama" of Stoglin engulfed this team and it sucks the life out of everyone. Maybe it would be worth it if we were talking about Michael Jordan. We aren't. We are talking about a 5-11 guard that could inefficiently score. The fact that some sports writers named him second team all-ACC means dick. Teams with guys like Stoglin NEVER win big.
