yeah, I'm a huge fan of running off a star PG for marijuana use. This is 2012. Every kid does it.

    thank you.

Before the correction police get to it, I'll call Stogs a combo

Or most HOF coaches have the common sense not to bring on kids with character issues like this. If it was just the weed, I bet it gets covered up.

Not only did Gary leave Turge with shit for talent, the talent he left was uncoachable.

You are wrong. Every kid doesn't do it and these guys had multiple chances to clean up their act. The failed. Good riddance.

Imagine all the bullshit Turgeon and staff had to put into these bad actors to try to get them to stay clean, go to class, attend workouts, etc. We will be better without them.

    Kevin's the common denominator

I take it back then. I firmly support all Kevin Anderson bashing. He truly is Rangoon 2.0.

That said this is absurd. You can't lay off the pot for 12 months to keep from flunking the few drug tests they give you. This is on Stoglin and I'm sure he's been warned before and chose to ignore it. Needs to grow up.

  • You can't be defending this kid for what he did. You really can't.

He's a super high profile player at the University of Maryland.

Honestly, I'm positive that many/most of these kids smoke pot. And I don't care about it.

But we've been hearing about Stoglin's "issues" way more than any other kid I can remember. And he's freaking DUMB ENOUGH to post about getting high on 4-20. Retard! That is not a smart thing to do! You can cover up some indiscretions. You can't allow for blatant flaunting of team rules.

and if you can't stop lay off the pot, the very least you could do is not brag about it on twitter.

  • I would love to know what Duke, UNC, UK, Kansas, UCLA drug policies are, just curious. Would be interesting to see how they compare to us. Any washington post reporters on here?

    Right.

  • Stoglin and Parker have been shitbags since they arrived. They are boys and they hit the road together. I'm not saying we need altar boys, but fuck...do you people realize you have to fail numerous drug tests before you get the 1 year suspension. These guys had multiple chances to correct their behavior and they were incapable of doing so. This program is so much better off without them. We will be better next year without them.

I'm not going into details about how many kids I knew from the 90's/00's I can confirm smoked weed, but let's just say it was more than a handful including starters on some very good teams.

    This.

  • For the people criticizing the AD/school on this, which of these do you want:

    A) Have drug policy prohibiting marijuana use and enforce it but make an exception for "star" players like Stoglin

    B) Have drug policy prohibiting marijuana use but don't enforce it for anybody

    C) No policy, kids can smoke as much marijuana as they want

    MisterNiceGuy

  • I don't get the KA bashing. It sounds like Stogs had several opportunities and still didnt listen. It really sucks, but how can you blame Anderson when the kid was repeatedly told to knock it off and failed to do so? You're a college athlete at a high major program. Follow the rules or pay the consequences.

And with Yahoo Sports and Internet reporting these days, you really can't sweep this sort of stuff under the rug anymore.

    Such a waste of talent.

Not sure I believe we will be better off next year but well said. Multiple chances and couldn't get it together. Is what it is.

No reason why it should be different than alcohol. Do it coach/team specific. Every coach and team has different rules on alcohol usage both in and off-season.
