Thanks Terps for not sh*tting the bed!

This is the first time in a long time where I feel the team played with consistent energy and heart for a sustained period of time. I realize we probably came one win short of dancing and I could complain about shitty calls or suspect shot selection but in the long run I'm proud of the effort these kids showed the past 3 days. Nothing to be ashamed of....they represented their school with dignity. Faust played his ass off, Dez was in beast mode, Pe'shon actually didn't hurt us, Len really showed when he needed to, Layman played smart, Mitchell and Shaq really worked hard and contributed and even Seth seemed to get his act together and showed some real promise for the future. I was even kind of impressed with Turgeon.
So in the end....I'm a pessimist asshole sometimes but I can honestly go to sleep tonight knowing these kids came to play and left it out on the court. Shoulda/woulda/coulda...blah, blah...we'll have months to hash out gripes but this weekend I was proud to be a Terp fan and supporter.
Highlights for me were Kelly being everyones bitch and Plumlee trying to move a wall.
Here's to hoping for a miracle!!

So the time they lost in OT to a team ~ as good as them on the road is "shitting the bed". OK.

Can we just appreciate the effort the kids put out this weekend? They could have come out and crapped the bed in dramatic fashion against Wake and just quit...but they didn't. They hung in and won that game, dismantled Duke and almost got to the championship game playing against the other home team and against the refs. Am I happy about the entire season? Of course not but I'm also the kind of person that will give credit when it's earned. This weekend these kids deserved credit. That's all.

Exactly the way I feel. I don't get people bitching today about the missed opportunities during regular season. The team played great this weekend and hopefully created some momentum for us to make a run in the NIT which would give us additional optimism about what the team can do next year. What's wrong with that?

I don't like moral victories and it does suck that we're not going to be in the tourney again barring a corrupt committee member finally accepting my bribes. BUT, it was definitely nice to see them go down fighting and playing with passion. And even though we lost today we all in all played well. With such a young team it's hard not to be encouraged.

Great post. I'm usually a sore loser...I won't check the boards after losses. Friends know not to even mention the Terps if we've lost. I'm just a miserable person, especially if in there in person.
I've never felt this good after a loss. Don't get me wrong; a few missed lay ups here, missed free throws there, and sprinkle in some home cooking by the refs and I have some things I'll mention in frustration.
But this was an encouraging loss. We played great all weekend (ok, much of the Wake game we sleptwalked through). I enjoyed watching us play at a high level,even if we didn't come out on top.
It's a weird feeling.

Nobody is looking for moral victories, but if you have half a brain you can see this team improving. To push UNC to the brink and beat Duke fairly convincingly in just his 2nd year, I can't wait to see what Turge has us doing by next year.
