(1) Against a zone we need a big who can catch the ball at the free throw line and can a jumper. Weis is the one guy who can do that somewhat (other than Len, whom we need on the low block). I am not a big Pankey fan, but definitely not against the zone. He is lethargic on offense -- no offensive rebounds and no shot attempts in 21 minutes. And he coralled only 2 defensive rebounds and was abused in one-on-one post play on defense; why does he consistently let a right handed guy go across the lane to his right? Take that away!
(2) When Len is out of the game, and the other team is playing man to man, Padgett needs to be in the game. He is the only big who consistently looks for his shot; the offense stagnates when there are no post threats.
(3) I agree with posters who say that Faust needs a red light on outside jumpers, but I think he still needs to play ahead of Parker. He taking care of the ball (I think only 1 TO over the last 3 games) and his defense and passing are0 better.
(4) Other than Mosley, our wings are not crashing the boards at all against the zone. One offensive rebound from Faust, Parker, and Stoglin combined.
(5) Turgeon has his point guard play really high against the zone, which limits turnovers on swing passes, but it seems like we are often pretty far from the basket, and not putting enough pressure on the defense. A PG who is a threat to split the guards at the top of the zone can open both wing penetration and wing jumpers. Howard was reticent tonight.
Would love if we had a jump shooting 4 man (a Holden, Milbourne, Gregory, or even Garrison); real weak spot on the team right now.

1.) Our defense was excellent for the majority of the first half, but for whatever reason, was non-existent after that until like the final 2 minutes of the game
2.) Stoglin has caught a lot of flack for his defense (which was better tonight when he wasn't on the bench in foul trouble), but Pankey is by far the weakest defender on the team.
3.) The guards need to improve on their entry passes to the big men, and the big men need to improve their positioning for receiving entry passes
4.) Faust needs to drive more, and stop shooting off-balanced shots
5.) Len needs to keep the ball high when he gets the ball in the paint, and go straight up when attempting to score (instead of bringing the ball to his waist where guards can steal it)
- I have no doubt that he will perfect this, and I already see more potential in him than I ever did in Jordan, but people saying that Len is better already need to chill. When Jordan caught the ball in the paint, that was pretty much a guaranteed two points. Len will get there though.

Pankey looks like the best player to address point #1. He certainly has a better jumper than Weijs or Padgett. For whatever reason, he hardly touched the ball last night. I'm not sure if he's lethargic. It might be they just don't run any stuff for him and/or the guards were jacking 3s.

I agree with most of this. Len, Mosley and others kept going for the pump fake last night. For Len, he really shouldn't ever leave his feet unless it's transition defense. But that's one of those things that I'm sure the staff will take care of over time, similar to your point about keeping the ball high. I don't know what to make of Pankey. Sometimes he looks great on D, others not so much. That combined with his benching makes me wonder if he's just immature. I think the tools are there for him to be pretty good. Parker always seems to be on the verge of being out of control. That said, he's made some buckets the last few games. Faust just needs to play within himself a little more. I don't mind him taking the 3s when he's open even though his shot isn't pure. But damn he forces more than Stoglin lately.
