Locksley

  • If Locksley is to be the new OC, can we expect to have a more productive offense in 2012?

  • Unless Crowton got his name legally changed to Locksley I expect us to be much better because we don't have Crowton calling the plays.

  • Let the man get on campus and put on the UA Maryland shirt first.

  • Assuming he decides to keep DOB as his starting quarterback, hopefully he'll be smart enough to realize calling a read option with him is pretty f--king stupid.

I hate when people say this over the internet. That's what the internet is for, speculation, discussion, etc.

Agreed that anything should be an improvement over Crowton. I remember him being the OC at Illinois when they went to the Rose Bowl in 2007 and landing Arrelious Benn who was from DC.

  • No chance CJ Brown couldn't be a better version of Juice Williams.

I'm thinking he'll favor CJ Brown.

If it were me, I 'd figure out a way to get CJ in about 10% of the time with DOB QBing, and of course get him his own time behind center. But, I'm no offensive genius, just a fan, so it's easy to say.

  • I think we can expect the offense to be more productive in 2012 because I really feel the offense underperformed in 2011 given their talent and experience. They were not the most talented bunch, but they had enough talent, and they had good experience with a returning QB, your leading rusher back, 3 out of 5 on the O-Line.

How much more productive is hard to gauge. I would not count on the offense being that great next year. A realistic increase in production may be the following:

There are 120 D1 teams. We finished around 90th out of 120 averaging 23 ppg. If we averaged around 26.5 to 27 ppg that would put us around the 60/120 mark. That may be realistic. (In 2010 when we were 9-4, we were 30/120 averaging 32 ppg).

  • It's hard for me to believe that we will be more productive. Not because of Locks, but we've lost Adams, Dill, and Coxson from the O, and there is still a chance that Garcia and one of the QBs will follow at some point. We'll be thin and inexperienced.

Adams and coxson sure did produce a lot last years. Will be tough to replace their production.

    A sextuple post, very impressive!

  • One thing with respect to bringing in Locksley. That would mean, at this point, we don't have anyone (to my knowledge) with experience coaching the QB position, and we have two guys who were primarily RB coaches....

They were two of the more talented players on the team. Anyone who knows football can see that Adams never got along w/ Edsall and Coxson battled an injury early on. He and Edsall had a difference in opinion on whether he was healthy enough to play or not. Once Coxson disagreed w/ Edsall that was it for him as well. No way in the world Marcus Leak shouldve got the start over Coxson when we were thin at wideout.

Not to be the punctuation police but come on, man. That's the longest sentence I've ever seen. It just makes it hard for people to read
