Goaltending Call

  • Not that it would have changed the outcome of the game, but that goaltending call on Dez in the last 1:30 of the game was absolutely horrific. Was not even remotely close to a goaltend and we would have had a chance to cut into the lead. Like I said, no excuses for last night and that call probably wouldn't have changed much, but my god, ACC refs are just the worst.

  • It was a terrible call, but so was the "foul" call on the Faust layup. Refs make mistakes. I didn't think the refereeing was bad last night. We were bad.

how was that a bad call? the replays clearly showed him slapping faust's arm?

whats terrible is that faust couldn't finish that and-1

he was definitely fouled, but barely, and should be strong enough to finish that

  • Maybe I missed it. It looked to me like he barely touched him. Either way, we hardly got a raw deal from the refs last night.

  • It was definitely an awful awful call, but I thought last night was one of the best reffed games this season. And I hate the refs.

  • Also didn't cost us the game, but there two big no calls on that one fast break where the GT player pushed off and another player tipped it in while it was still on the rim.

  • They also had a b/s offensive goaltend that didn't get called when the ball was in the cylinder. Both goaltends killed both of our miniruns. You never know what could have been in college basketball, especially our team which only plays well when they're feeling confident.

agreed but to allude that it may have contributed to our loss is silly. shooting 4-15 from behind the arc and getting outrebounded? are the issue. officiating wasnt all that bad last night surprisingly.

I'm pretty sure the offensive goaltend came right around the time when we were going to close it to 10. Also unrelated, but we were down 10 when Layman took and missed 3 consecutive 3's. If we had just scored 2 FGs in those 3 possessions we would have cut it to 6 and then anything would be possible.

Anytime we're down at half on the road and they come out the 2nd half extending the lead on the first couple possessions you can guarantee we are going to lose and they will keep that lead the rest of the game.

yup. and thats what comes with not having a guy who can take over or a point guard who can take the ball away from jake and seth and whoever else. jake took one of those 3's like 7 seconds into the shot clock and missed badly. i love jake and think he will be great player but this is why turge seems so frustrated. the basketball IQ of this team is so non-existent, im not sure hes ever coached a team like this. the repeated mistakes and motivation have got to fall on the players at some point. but thats besides the point, yes the goal tends sucked but shot selction among other tthings killed us late in that game. tech was doing everything they could to hand us that game last night like taking 3's and missing shots and we couldnt capitalized. plain and simple. been the story on the road all year.
