Get off the pile

  • Time to let the guy up to play another down, so to speak. The constant piling on is making this board almost unreadable. I don't think there is anybody here that agrees with all Edsall's decisions or methods, but the nitpicking of every word that comes out his mouth is petty and annoying.
    Yes, last season was a disaster. It was pretty obvious that there was division in the lockerroom. That should be gone come March 1st and the beginning of spring ball. Let's see then if there is chemistry in the program and a group of kids buying into the system. If not, it will be visible that Edsall's ways just don't work and a change needs to be made. Until then, lets act like mature adults instead of the insecure kid that throws insults to feel like part of the popular crowd.

  • There is literally not one thing he could do that would stop it. EVERYTHING he says, even if its something that people have called for him to do, is ridiculed. It's a joke. He's still our coach, might as well let him try and dig us out of the whole. If he can't (and I'm not sure he can), then he'll be out of here. Bitching on this board won't do anything.

  • I'm sick of all the nitpicking and negativity, but unfortunately it's really, really hard for me to convince myself that Edsall has what it takes to turn the ship around. I keep trying, though.

    I let Peter Angelos kill one team/sport for me, I don't want to let Edsall do the same. I will continue to hope he succeeds just so he can't defeat me.

    My emotional,fly off the handle side of me wants to say screw this-he made his own f'n bed,now go lie in it.Keep piling on this clown. Then reality sets in and I realize he deserves one more season to change things(including himself,W-L record,team chemistry,etc.) We need him to succeed this coming season. Anything less than 7-5 including player turmoil,media bashing of program then I'm all for running him out on a rail and bring Zook in to be HC to Locks has rehabilitated his image and is ready to be the man.

  • As much as much as I hate Edsall and everything he has done comes off, to me, as conceited, petty and plain stupid, I can see a scenario where he could be a really successful coach. Combine his disciplinarian methods with more player friendly coaches like Locks and it could be a great balance. Kids want to come because of the coordinators and parents want them to come because of the "prepare them for the future" stuff. I am also willing to allow that there might have been some locker-room issues that needed to be addressed (but am in no way willing to give him a pass on how he handled it).

    All of this depends on whether or not he can start winning. If he can stay out of his own way, keep good coaches on our staff and we continue to improve in recruiting I think we start winning. I'll always resent him for how he's handled himself this past year but I'd bet that a 8-10 win Edsall is far less of a smarmy douchebag than a 2 win Edsall. I think we've 2 more years to find out if he can get there. In the meantime, I can't blame everyone for their nitpicking but it does get really tiresome.

  • This isn't like complaining because you ordered a medium rare steak and got well done. This is like if you ordered a medium rare steak and the waiter took a giant dump on your plate and sprinkled some A1 on top of it.
