Anderson has killed alot of donor relationships I'm told. People in the University of Maryland System are not happy with him. This being said, Turgeon better make the Tourney next yr. or many in the Athletic Dept./big BB donors who are already ? his coaching and constant complaining behind the scenes will make his 4th yr. very warm.
I wish a bear ate both of them on that camping trip
Sean Miller's sweatpants are the worst thing that ever happened to Maryland basketball
I think Hogie is going to assassinate the Tucson doctor who cleared up Sean Miller's wifes allergies
Gary "complained" a lot behind the scenes early on as well. Sometimes that's what is necessary to make improvements, even if it runs a couple people the wrong way. Everyone got complacent after the title and after we built Comcast. It was like we had nothing left to do or improve on and they didn't until Turgeon got here.
Turgeon hasn't complained in front of or behind the scenes. He has sated the need for improvements and Anderson has raised the money to make them.
You just can't build a new arena and stop improving other aspects of the program and facilities. The Aux gym was suppsed to be for hoops -- now its for everything but hoops.
What is lacking in Anderon's regime is a recognition and valuing of all things Maryland. The current regime is all about fund raising -- and they don't care where it comes from as long as it comes. There are some very, very loyal long-term Maryland people that have been stepped on in the process -- people who have donated loyally and continually for a decades. That could hurt for a long time. Another bad season or two in either of the revenue sports will cause many of these new givers to pack up and leave while many of the old ones will have been needlesly pissed off.
We badly need some Maryland people in the athletic department and University.
BTW if you someone thinks there is discord over Anderson -- you should hear what some top givers think of Loh -- not good.
I don't up-vote you often, but this is hilarious.
Nothing is true, everything is permitted.
Winning cures all ills. People are pissed when we lose, not surprising.
90% of the people I talk to (athletic department senior staff, big donors, high level folk in the Univ and even former bball staff members) do not think we need a dedicated basketball practice facility for any other reason outside of recruiting and keeping up with the Jones'.
I'd say recruiting is a pretty big reason to do it since that is where everything starts.
That sounds like a pretty important reason to me.
By whom? Please tell.
I think he's actually started an awesome outreach campaign for donors that has long been lacking. My Terp Club reps have come to my place of work twice and sat down just to chat with me.
