I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
Devils hits the nail on the head. Turgeon's faults are somewhat minor. Look at what Calipari is going through. Last year (deservedly) he was everybody's darling. This year he is effectively calling Poythress and Goodwin uncoachable, and he's struggling getting consistency from Harrow, and his team may not make the tournament. His coaching ability hasn't deteriorated.
Turgeon doesn't win at his prior 3 programs unless he is good at the X and O's and the teaching. Most guys who fail to make the jump to success at the major programs can't compete in the recruiting. Turgeon is acing that so far, and has shrewdly built a staff to recruit and built relationships locally.
I think we have not only young guys but immature guys (Len, Mitchell, Faust, Allen, Layman). Wells is in that camp, too, though he is farther along. I like them all and have high hopes, and they are trying, but they really don't know how to ready themselves mentally for the games, and none really understands how to play the game and how to generate advantage. They can get themselves ready for Duke, but they don't play with the same intensity and commitment at other times.
Tom Crean was on the radio today saying how last year's Indiana team did not have the mental fortitude and practice habits to win consistently, but this year's does. Guys mature.
We all got fooled by the early run, including the staff. But we have been exposed. I will start worrying if we are not a winning team next year.

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere but I just saw this comment from Turge.
"Start of the second half, James Padgett has a 3-point play opportunity, goes up weak – shoots an air ball six feet short. And that’s your senior,” Turgeon said.
where is that from? and what is the point of this crap in the media?
Bmore Sun article from yesterday
He might be melting down under the heat
What if Padgett had a wife and young son that read/heard that. They would probably cry and never read a newspaper again.
Padgett should break down in his next media opportunity "it's been a really hard week"
Have we mentioned recently how much we love this guy and his honesty? Because in no way was that quote throwing a player under the bus. He's just being honest.
Well he needs to sack up because "big time basketball" (wishful thinking) comes with pressure
I honestly dont mind it. If we were winning you would think it was genius. When you win, everything you do is right and when you lose, everything you do is wrong.
Yeah, good idea calling out a guy who played 8 minutes, when the one he left in for 16 minutes in the 2nd half played like a bitch the entire game.
It has been systemic inconsistency from every player all year. If they could just synchronize and have 3 or 4 guys on out of 10 on a given night, we'd be fine.
If you're broadcasting a game, tell it the way it really is, but keep your opinions to yourself...!
