Go away, KA!
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
Students suck because they don't show up for games/are a bunch of nerds who don't care about sports
Students suck because they show some enthusiasm and rush the court after beating N.C. State.
Tar Heel: Maryland term for stepping in Duke
Duke: Maryland term for dog s@#$
Rushing the court for NC State is definite overkill. But the reaction from this board and local/national media about it is much more overkill about such a moot point. Now we have to be politically correct on how to celebrate a victory? Ridiculous.
Here is the long and short of it....
Should there have been a court storming last night?
No. Because it was against the 14th ranked team and it was against State, a team we have beaten 10 out of the last 11 times we played them.
However, I am not upset about the court storming at all. Here's why:
This was Turge's 1st victory over a top 25 team since he has been Terps Head Coach.
The team needed that jolt of energy from a fanbase who according to Turgeon, at times hasn't really been there for the team in terms of attendance. The fans showed their appreciation for the team last night.
It was a last second victory! These are games that lately we would've been on the wrong side.
We are not an elite program anymore (well not yet, at least). We are a ways to go before becoming respectable to the College Basketball landscape. We all speak about acting like we have been there before. We have (in 2002)! Thats 10 years ago!! Most of the Kids on campus now may not know much of the history of UMD Basketball and we should be a bit more forgiving of them.
So To all those out there who believe we should've acted like we have been here before, understand that its been a very long time since we "been here" and that genuine excitement that we experienced last night fueled a court storming that in my opinion had been long overdue!
