If Mitch does decide to go you could be looking at 10 wins or less next year - MdBbReporter
Aronhalt wasn't going to shoot 50%+ from 3 all season. He's in a slight slump, I'm not worried about him.
Allen you can see the confidence leave his face with each game. He's one that had no idea just how big a jump in competition was coming after the nonconference schedule. He has talent, I'm hopeful he'll improve.
Pe needs to sit. Simple as that.
No idea about Faust anymore. At this point I think he is what he is, a pretty average player.
Go away, KA!
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
The problem is that we don't have anybody that can consistently stress/stretch defenses. We don't have ball handlers who can consistently penetrate and force the defense to collapse, nor do we have shooters who can consistently stress the defense to get out on shooters and not just pack it in inside the 3 point line.
Aronhalt, Allen and Layman are our best 3 point threats but two of them are freshman and inconsistent (Layman much more so obviously) and Aronhalt can't really do anything except shoot so he's a liability if you play him big minutes.
Howard can't do the job physically, Faust is not a natural ball handler (can't really blame him) and Allen is obviously inconsistent being a freshman.
I think we can still make the tournament despite all this if we go 10-8 in ACC play, which isn't particularly unrealistic, and then next season you have to hope Allen and Layman have improved enough to become consistent threats from 3 and in Allen's case, a consistent threat to penetrate. Smotrycz will be a huge help considering he's a lights out shooter, losing Len will hurt alot but the team will be better balanced offensively if Cleare and Mitchell improve because right now we just have a bunch of beef that can't do anything but bang down low.
Losing Len will hurt us much more so defensively than offensively.
If we go 10-8, two of those wins better be against Duke. Or we better get to the ACCT finals. I think 11-7 is the bare minimum to get us a legitimate look at the tourney. Even then, unless we get one against Duke, we probably have to win at least 2 in Greensboro. Our OOC schedule is going to be a real albatross is we're on the bubble.
Alot of good observations here ^!!
Logan cannot shoot with tight ACC level coverage, but in his defense he can shoot if open, and we have not gotten him the ball often in those situations. He was added as a 'specialty player' to break a zone defense, not play point.
If you're broadcasting a game, tell it the way it really is, but keep your opinions to yourself...!
