I'm sure if we make it to MSG then Padge will start.
I don't understand the phasing out. Unless it's stuff going on in practice. Padge's minutes and production towards the end of the year were solid, and in line with what he'd been doing all year. And then all of a sudden he just gets benched in the ACCT (after starting the Wake game but only playing 6 min)
Padge excels against smaller, less talented competition. Tonight was his chance to shine.
Turge can be a little corny. But he willed this team against UNC when they were dog tired and the kids do seem to like him. He's not Gary in the swag category.
So random that Dino comes to Padge's aid on this one. A few yrs ago during Dino's senior year, a friend and I used to have HUGE fights- he claimed sophomore Padgett should be taking Dino's minutes. I quite liked Dino's mid range game his senior year, and we basically fought about it all season. I've always been something of a Padge critic- id appreciate the offensive boards, and occasional pretty drop step move. The cringe worthy FT were always tilting.
Tonight doesn't seem like a big deal to me, but I could be in the minority there.
some of you people are retarded........he wasn't getting time which is fine given the rotation at this point, and Turgeon did not want just play him in garbage time, and gave him the choice. Padge prob just said, I'm good coach...and nothing.
Turge needs to schedule up and stop worrying about hoisting a mid-major trophy. Stop acting like we need baby steps. Get enough talent, don't get out-coached, beat the hell out of folks. All this babystep shit makes me think I'm on the SMU boards.
The original basketball, message board, superhero.
FWIW, I was friends with Brian Watkins back in the day and I know he turned down PT all the time down the stretch of blowout games. Coach didn't take anything negative towards it.
he can say what he wants about the tournament next year, we took it because it was our best option which is fine. that said, I will be happy for a few days away.
it happens all the time and is no big deal
Yeah, it's possible. We saw this with Shaq/UVA and it was no big deal, Shaq got good minutes thereafter and contributed nicely. Padge is a little more mysterious because it's not like there's wasn't a matchup for him. What you say is possible, but I need more convincing knowing it was Niagara.
He's a clock maker.
Of course it does. You get some good buzz - NIT winners are almost always talked about as being teams to look out for next year. It may help with student interest for early season games and alumni interest for the tourney in the VI and the game in Bklyn. Plus it helps solidify the notion in the Beltway that MD bball is on the rise.
