I think its entirely possible. No team there scare me.
Wow. This is NOT roomy!
@alex_prewitt Mark Turgeon gets $25,000 for an NIT bid and $10,000 for each NIT round. That NIT bid bonus ($25,000) for Turgeon is the same for an NCAA tournament bid.
Kevin Anderson, everybody!
Do we get to play at home? The women's NCAA is here for the week.
Going to disagree.
There were ~74 BCS programs eligible for post-season this year. The NCAAT has 68 slots (31 auto bids and 37 at large). Assume the BCS conference teams account for 6 auto bids and maybe ~28 at-large in a given year (this year I think it was 26) all you really need to do is finish in the top 50% of all BCS teams.
There are a handful of BCS programs that missed the NCAAT this year that are in our caliber (KY, Arkansas, LSU) and that; it (we'll exclude UConn from this convo). We may not be the elite program that people on here think we are, finishing in the top 50% percentile amongst BCS conference teams should be a bare minimum for this program. Not making the NCAAT is an embarassment and nobody associated with this program can shy away from that.
Stony Brook does. Really. They are a major sleeper. Gave us a very tough game early.
Really? No nit teams scare you? Its usually full of nasty teams like south Carolina and Minnesota that scare the shit out me.
I think we will be a #2 in Iowa's bracket.
I think we've gotten clearance to play a home game on Tuesday. The Women's NCAAT is later in the weekend (Sat/Mon or Sun/Tuesday). Not sure about 2nd round
Agreed. Still tons of talent in this tournament. Winning the NIT is IMHO about the equivalent of making the Great 8 in the dance. Gonna be some damn good teams in there.
Oh, there are pleny. Let's not get carried away. We played very well this werkend, but we are not gonna walk through this. Iowa, Baylor, UK, , UVa all tough outs. We will have our hands full.
I found secret footage of Turgeon's agent negotiating with Kevin Anderson!
Are you mad because of the money or are you ensuing that it takes away motivation from making the tourney? If it's the latter I recommend you trouble yourself for a warm glass of shut the hell up... If it's the former then yes, I am totally in agreement.
It would be cool to see a Kentucky or Baylor or Tennessee in Comcast since we stopped scheduling marquee teams at home during the season
LOL at us having to get clearance from Brenda on playing basketball. Good God, how far we have fallen.
the one-time bonus of making the NCAA or NIT is the same but Turge's bonuses for advancing in the NCAAT are much greater then the 10K per NIT win.
Not even close.
This is the dumbest thing ever written on IMS, and LeftyTerp still posts here. Well done sir.
Thats nothing! He averages over 70k per regular season game! The absurdity!!!
What the actual fuck. Winning the NIT is not even as good as winning Thursday in the ACCT.
Yeah, I'd be about as happy with winning the NIT as I would one of those early season tournaments. Maybe less, because winning one of those probably means we picked up a good win or two for our resume. Either way, I just look at it as a chance for our guys to develop more and to get to watch them a few extra games before basketball season is over.
