If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
1. Move the 3 point line back .5-1 ft
2. Expand the restricted area circle to be proportional to to the paint/restricted area in the NBA
3. Give each players 6 fouls before fouling out and call the game tighter
4. Instruct the refs to call a charge only if it's absolutely blatant
5. Totally eliminate the charge. It's rarely called correctly. It adds nothing to the game.
When you have to add a line on the court to know where to enforce a rule, it's probably a suck rule.
Google "best charge call in basketball". Nothing.
Mostly agree with these actually.
The biggest thing is just improving the overall quality of the officiating. This has nothing to do with wins and losses. It has everything to do with the overall quality of NCAA basketball suffering dramatically from poor calls that especially destroy the inside play.
I love great guard play as much as anybody and I like that college basketball is more guard focused. Let's be serious, watching little guys do amazing things is a lot more fun than basketball was in the 70's or early 80's when big men ruled the game.
But at this point, there's just no quality inside play allowed in the NCAA at all. A guy like Shaq or even Len gets cheap foul calls against them every game when, really, they're just honestly bigger and stronger than the guys they're guarding. It's a shame that we reward players for going down like potato sacks.
I like the idea of six fouls as well. I don't like that fouling out is a major part of the game.
The charge call has really, really, really been bad for college basketball. We can blame Duke for that.
I know I already took a stronger stance on this but I thought of something else.
In what bizarro world does Karl Hess understand the meaning of "only if it's absolutely blatant"?.
The "charge" in the ACC should simply be Swofford sitting in his Bojangles lair with a microphone.
"Goodness Gracious, that's certainly a charge on that Yankee."
