Football - We will have arguably the best WR corp in the nation as well as a very solid backfield and offensive line. I'm confident we will find a solid QB among the four by 2014. Also, looking at the potential rosters, we should have a ton of upperclassmen at every position. I think we can be contenders in the Big 10 in 2014.
QB - Sr-RS. Brown / So. Cockerille / Jr. Rowe / Jr. Hills (whoever emerges as the starter)
RB - Jr. Brown (4*) / Jr. Reid / Jr-RS. Ross
FB - Sr. Cierski
WR - Jr. Diggs (5*) / Sr. Long (5*) / Sr. Leak / Sr. King / So. Taivon Jacobs
Line - Jr. Madaras (4*) / So. Gray (4*) / Sr. Conaboy / Jr-RS. Doyle / Jr-RS. Zeller / Sr-RS. Grommer / So. Dulaney / So. Jones
TE - So-RS. Gallo / So. Isaacs
DE/DT - So. Opara, Jr.-RS. Jefferson, Sr. Bowers / So-RS. Braglio
NT - Sr. Kilgo
SAM - Sr. Twine / So. Brooks /So-RS. Thompson
MIKE - So. Ngakoue (4*) / Sr. Farrand / So.-RS Dean
MO - So-RS. Logan (4*) / Sr. Gorre / So. Carter
WILL - Sr. Murphy / So. Walker / So. Hayward
CB - So. Likely (4*), Jr. Dorleant / So. Ross / So. Veii / Jr. Hill
S - Sr. Robinson / Sr. Hendy
S - Jr. Nixon / So. Collins / Jr. Davis / Jr-RS. Clark
(And if you really want to get excited look at the number of 4 and 5 star local recruits we are involved with in the 2014 class: http://maryland.247sports.com/Season/2014-Football/Offers)
Basketball - Lots of upperclassmen and freshman that will have chemistry of being together for 2+ years. Add 2 huge talents at point guard (which is our current achilles heel), along with Smotz (who Turge has called the best player on the team) and we should be a top 10 team. This isn't even counting potential recruits like Wiley, Morgan, Enechionyia, Abu, or any transfers we might also go after.
PG - So. Peters / Fr. Trimble
SG - Sr. Wells / Jr. Allen
SF - Jr. Layman / Sr. Faust
PF - Sr. Smotrycz / Jr. Mitchell
C - Jr. Cleare / So. Dodd
So coming into the Big 10, I think we will have a very impressive first year and have the *ability* to contend for B1G titles in both sports. I can't remember seeing the stars align so well for both sports at the same time. Obviously a lot can change from here til then, but if we keep recruiting in both sports like we are now to supplement the players we already have - the future looks very bright.

If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?
"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
You need to put Junior Z. Dancel in one of the starting safety spots. I think he could claim one this season. Also senior jerimiah Johnson should be the starting corner. I like Ngakoue at the Will LB considering he got 18 sacks this past season.
Flacco to Torrey
Thanks for putting that together. The future does seem really bright for the first time in a while now
Saw Dodd and his team beat Hargrave Military Academy last weekend. Got in foul trouble early, but completely changed the game when he was in. Had a lot of energy, ran the court well, blocking shots, and all of his 14 points came on dunks. Watching him warm up, I thought he was going to suck because he's so goofy, but this guy is super long and definitely has some real potential.
Guess I'm going to have a fail a few classes!
That team could contend for first place in the ACC and third place in the Big 14. Not bad.
"Anyone who talks about Jordan Williams leaving knows nothing about basketball. Absolutely nothing" - Hogie 02/27/2011
In my mind Long is a key part of the B1G Ten Championship in our Inaugural season. Along with Diggs, Leak, Jacobs (one or both) King, etc we will be unstoppable at the WR position. Now I'm concerned that he might leave after this year if he continues to blow up. Is there any talk about if he will be possibly a 1 year guy or do we have him most likely for two?
Nancy Pelosi - The Gift that Keeps on Giving..
Marqise Lee (USC), Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods (USC), Jordan Mattews (Vandy), and probably Austin Hill (AZ) will be coming out in next year's draft. So he'd probably need to outperform a lot of them to be considered in the first round which would be pretty difficult to do.

I'm very excited for Maryland football after the last two classes this staff has put together!
I'm definitely going to get season tickets this year!
Not to piss on the parade, but Long is most def a one and done. However, MD may have the best WR corp in the nation THIS year. Now, just need some one who can throw the ball, and it could be a damn good year. A lot of offensive talent on this team. Can the young defense gel early enough, and make up for the loss of Vellano, Tate et al. A lot of reason for optimism.
Nice charts. Two small changes (other than Dancel)...Shouldn't Ricardo Young be somewhere on the QB chart? Also, Makinton Dorleant transferred to Northern Iowa.
Do we have any chance with William Crest? I know he's high on WVU, but with our influx of talent and our move to the BIG 10 shouldn't our chances improve?
Our OL is also a big question going into next year. I was not impressed by it last year and we will probably have 2 new starters. Our WR corp is minimized if we can't protect our QB.
Is this going to be CJ Brown's senior year or did he get a medical redshirt?
He can't apply for one until his senior year, but he'll surely get one if he wants one.
We could still use some help on both lines. It's not like we are loaded particularly on the D-Line, and the O-Line remains a work in progress the way I see it.
Great writeup. Wont Smot be a Jr.?
no he'd be a senior. god a team with allen, faust, and mitchell (all upperclassmen) coming off the bench would be amazing
You are sleeping on Richardo Young imo. Won't he be the best shot in the spring camp, vis health, duel threat QB and he was a 4 star out of HS?
