At least VT fans aren't delusional. They know basketball is a lost cause and have a decent football program to fall back on.
NCSU people are still waiting for a return to lost glory (that they conveniently avoid recalling was, such as it ever existed, attributable to the efforts of two of the bigger crooks of their respective eras).

VT fans are the most delusional in the country. They think their football program is on par with like Alabama, I swear.

on one hand I think he needs to go yesterday (if for no other reason than airballing the two gift-wrapped Curry sons which would have been the 2nd and 7th best players in VT history after their dad for Steph and a few other decent players for Seth), but considering he did have a helluva good recruiting class last year I'd be inclined to give him one more year.
He certainly sucks though.

This argument is always dumb. Nobody wanted the first Curry kid. When he was a junior in high school, he was like 5'8' and shot his jumper from his chest. Lots of schools passed on him. The second one was too good to consider Tech, dad or not.

#1, if the son of the best player in school history is first team all-state and wants to come to your school, you give him a scholarship. Davidson was smart enough, and they have been to more NCAA tournaments than VT. Davidson = nobody wanted the first Curry kid?

There's a reason why he went to Davidson. DAVIDSON! Yea, let's waste a scholarship on someone who we think won't see the court. Of course it looks bad now, but u can't blame Greenberg for not offering him. If I remember correctly, Greenberg offered him a spot on the team but not a scholarship. Do you also think unc is stupid for not offering Jordan's kid?
And you clearly didn't follow Seth curry's recruitment/transfer request. He had no interest in VT at anytime.
God I hate 90% of VT fans. You can blame Greenberg for a lot of things, mainly his non existent offensive schemes, but knocking him on recruiting is really dumb.

We are not UNC, and Jordan's kid wasn't first team all-state and I doubt Jordan was telling Roy that the kid can really play. Dell knew what his kid could do and SG didn't listen. Damn right I blame him for that.

Appleton failed to meet requirements at VT, and I think he was a very highly rated juco transfer coming out of community college too. Not sure what happened to him.
We signed Nigel Munson ahead of Curry. Of course it looks bad now, but Munson was a top 100 recruit coming out of High School and at the time was one of the highest rated recruits ever to commit to VT, so yea I don't blame Greenberg for taking Munson over Curry. Every coach in the country would have taken Munson over Curry at the time. Nobody thought Curry could play and produce at the collegiate level, his only offers were from Davidson and VCU. Every school in the country missed on him, but if blaming Greenberg makes you feel better, then that's fine.

no one is satidfied with that. Talking about being fired after this year. VT was in the complete toliet before Seth got here. He has made is mediocre/annual bubble team/competitive ACC program. He just landed VT's best recruiting class in years (maybe ever) on paper.
He has improved facilities. (Just built a huge state of the art practice facility, lockerroom, player lounge, etc.)
They'll give him a year or two to see what this recruting class can do. What sucks....injuries have really plagued VT. Not sure if its bad luck...or something Greenberg has been doing.
The question you have to ask...if we do fire him. Who is VT realisitically going to get that is clearly an upgrade?

The thing about Greenberg is we all know his ceiling as a coach. He had two of the best players in VT history on his roster for four years (Delaney, Allen) and he managed to go to the NIT four years. If you can't get to the NCAA tournament with two of your programs all time greats then you are a jokeshow as a coach.

Im not sure....by any measure (stats, fan perception, whatever) was Jeff Allen one of VT's all time greats. Im not sure he is in the top 10.
