Grad asst sees Sandusky sexually assault 10 year old boy in shower in locker room. Tells Paterno. Paterno reports to AD and another admin. They do nothing. Paterno does nothing. AD and other admin perjure themselves to cover it up.

i never know what "sexually assault means" in this. penis in butt? touching? something in between? they are all super sicko messed up, but for some reason i think it is relevant.

After all of that, in 2007, Paterno allowed Sandusky to bring 11 yr old boy, who he was raping at the time, to multiple practices.

It was okay, as Sandusky had given the boy a sweetheart ring.

i don't understand how this physical possible. and how does someone sick enough to do that function as a normal member of society the rest of the time? how does he do it so infrequently (maybe he didn't)? i don't like even having to think about it

how did the grad assistant not do something when he saw it? i mean he saw that happening in the shower and just left? really? does that seem like the standard reaction?

Another question is did the GA keep his job ? The GA's father might have worried that his son would have been the fall guy. Sandusky and JP were like gods in Pa back then.

  • I'm assuming NCAA bylaws don't cover child molestation, but I feel like "lack of institutional control" was invented for things like this.

Well, I mean, that’s what it is. I doodoo and then listen to Katy Perry.

  • This was the lead story on the NBC Nightly News. Penn State is one of the few schools in the country where that would be the case.

It does not get more serious than child rape. 100% of the AD and football staff should be immediately fired including Joe Pa who should catch charges for some type of neglect IMO.

Regardless, I say the GA is at fault too. Maybe not legally, technically, but as a human being. Man the fuck up.

  • His bail is only 100k? WYF?
That POS is being charged with intercourse of boys under age 16?

Send him to Upper Marlboro, PG county, he will become a receiver.

Severity of the crime does not determine bail. Flight risk does. I don't see Sandusky as the type to hit the road. Suicide, maybe but not flee.

  • wow, joe pa has some serious explaining to do, i cant wait to hear his statement on this. and "i told my boss" simply wont even come clost to cutting it. you tell your boss about sexual harassment, you tell the police about sexual assault, even more so when its a 50 year old man assaulting 10 year old boys.

i cant believe when joe pa met with the a.d. the following day, they didnt come to the conclusion that they must go to the authorities. imo, paterno isjust as involved in the cover up, particularly in the weeks/months that followed and nothing came about. i mean he never followed up with the a.d. with something like " hey remember we talked bout jerry raping that 10 year old boy in the football lockerroom, anything ever happen with that?

  • Here comes the media.

Paterno wasn’t charged, but if Sandusky is guilty he would be guilty — just as Penn State’s athletic director and a university vice president, who were charged with perjury and failure to report suspected child abuse on Saturday, would be guilty.

They would all be party to a worse crime than any crooked, pay-for-play booster at Miami, Ohio State or even SMU ever committed: guilty of protecting a program before a child.

You can’t read the 23-page grand jury report and come to any other conclusion; Penn State football and its pristine reputation superseded the alleged sexual assault of a young boy — perhaps as many as eight young boys — over 15 years by Sandusky.

    Joe Pa knew.

    They all knew.

    And they never told police.

If Jerry Sandusky allegations are true, Penn State and Joe Paterno deserve part of the blame - The Washington Post

If the Pennsylvania attorney generals office is to be taken at its word about Jerry Sandusky, the Penn State program is now close to beyond redemption.

  • This case demands answers to deep and troubling questions right up the chain of command at Penn State, including Spanier and the legendary Paterno.

    ----------

And then there is the conduct of Paterno, the 84-year-old legend. He is beloved for being the winningest coach in college football history and for running a program for more than five decades that never ran afoul of NCAA statutes.

While he may have committed no crime, he must fully explain the actions he took after hearing such an unspeakable allegation.

Did he really listen to this story and think merely telling the AD was enough? Why did he wait a day to summon Curley to his home? Wouldn’t a charge like this take precedent over pretty much everything? Why didn’t he personally look into it further? This is something that allegedly happened in his locker room, by a man he both coached and employed as a trusted assistant for a combined 33 years?

Technically Paterno may have done the right thing, reporting the allegation to his superior, but he isn’t just some middle manager. Tim Curley worked for Joe Paterno more than Joe Paterno worked for Tim Curley. He could’ve called in the police himself.

Paterno was 75 at the time and his advancing age and the limits of his participation in the program are well known. That simply can’t be used as an excuse. Positions of authority come with great responsibility and advancing age does not excuse someone of merely accepting the plaudits of success while avoiding the more difficult duties of the position.

Paterno may very well have appropriate answers to all of the above questions and more. He needs to give them. Four-hundred-plus victories shouldn’t absolve anyone from being accountable in a case such as this.
