  • It is AMAZING how consistently wrong charmcity is about pretty much everything.

    NO WAY the Heat win
    Durant is the better player

  • Instead of bumping the Game 1 thread, I'll just neatly organize stupidity into one post.

    Bossterp:
You also want the best player in the world making his shots. Durant did that. I love in the other thread how I was called out for saying Durant was better than Lebron. Again...the NBA is about the 4th quarter. I'll take Durant over ANYONE.

He sure does....against the Raptors in April. It's June. I'll take Durant....and i'll win.

Just so you understand I wasn't saying this loss is on Lebron. Thanks to a couple of crap AND 1 calls he was keeping the Heat in the game.
I was commenting on your post saying Lebron was the best basketball player in the world. I was just educating you that the best player in the world had 17 points in the 4th quarter.
Lebron's a great great player. 2nd best in the world. That's not criticism. It's reality.

You seem very confused. Kevin Durant isn't the best player in the world because in this ONE game he did what people have been BEGGING Lebron to do in 4th quarters of NBA Finals for years.
He is the best player in the world because when he takes that shot in the 4th quarter EVERYONE knows it is going in because Kevin Durant is Kevin Durant. That's not a one game thing. It's a who has bigger testicles thing. Jordan had it. Eli has it. Pedro Cerano had it. Durant has it.

The NBA is 5 on 5 and people play offense and defense. This means a superstar HAS to win to be the best. It's similar to being an NFL QB. No one would argue that Romo puts up top 5 numbers but almost NO ONE would argue he is top 5. You have to win. Qb's for the NFL, goalies for hockey, anyone in basketball...you just have to win.
This series is going to go a long way to tell who is the best. Like it or not both are very similar. Lebron fills up a stat sheet better but Durant makes shots when his team needs to. Durant is also younger. If Lebron has a career NBA finals record of 3-12 how can he be the best in the league?

    BoostedTerp:
The best player in the world is now on the Thunder.

    Hogie:
He was. And he was making them. Unlike LeBron.

    Wolvinakron:
I also feel like people are sleeping on the argument of Durant being the best player in the game. I mean, he is the three time scoring champion in the league.
Yes he doesn't do as much as Lebron, but he doesn't have to and they're not the same player. I mean, Michael Jordan was predominantly a scorer while getting an ok amount of assists and rebounds, but at the end of the day he put the ball in the hoop. That's what Durant does as well.
It's definitely not a completely outrageous argument.

    Cletus:
He's got a more well rounded game than Lebron.

    Charmshitty:
Let me clear a few things up for everyone.
Durant nor LeBron is anywhere close to Jordan.
Durant is better than LeBron, and only 23 years old. He has a better chance of approaching Jordan's career/success than LeBron. I will say that LeBron appears to be taking baby steps toward becoming more of a factor late in games, but he is still coming up far short.
LeBron can't even be compared to Jordan. If anything, compare him to Magic Johnson. I would definitely take Magic over LeBron, but they are similar type players.

This debate is interesting. The people so pro LeBron and so anti LeBron are so over the top about each of their points, making them equally as ridiculous. LeBron is really, really good. He is probably one of the top 2-3 players in the league and has been for the past few years. That said, he still is a ridiculous athlete who can't really shoot and folds in crunch time, partially because he can't shoot. He is mentally weak in many ways, and doesn't have that killer instinct all the time.
Durant is 4 years younger, can shoot, has improved defensively and is aggressive getting to the hoop. I think he is the better player, and he would certainly be the guy I would choose if starting an NBA team from scratch today. I'd also wager heavily he ends up with the better career when all is said and done. He is already going to be up 1 on LeBron in titles after this year, is 4 years younger and LeBron has an aging Wade by his side. Also, LeBron is the type of player that could really struggle when he gets past his prime unless he develops a better low-post game and becomes a better shooter.

How? People keep saying this. What would give you the impression they can turn it around?? They now have to win 4 of their next 6 against the Thunder, with three of those games in OKC, where they are undefeated in the playoffs. Miami's home court advantage doesn't really exist with their awful fans.
I love that collection of Celtics players, but they are old, slow and beat up. Four key players for their team didn't even suit up for the series, and it took Miami until just 5 minutes were left in Game 7 to finally dispatch them. Allen was running around on one ankle. Stietsma was doing the same, and he was the only guy who could really spell KG.
Miami is now playing a team that actually has quality defenders to guard LeBron, a much faster, deeper and more athletic team than the Celtics, and probaby a better shooting team as well. If the Heat played in the West, I'm not even sure they would have made it past the second round.

What? Bosh came up huge in Game 7 this year. And while Wade has struggled this year (probably hurt) he was really good in the playoffs last year and essentially carried them in the Finals. Can you imagine how much the Heat would struggle at the end of games without Wade??? Who would LeBron play hot potato with then? Battier or Chalmers would be launching shots with the game on the line.

Don't forget to mention several times that this was a lockout-shortened season. In 82 games, he'd have been more worn out, and the younger Durant would have edged him out in the finals.

  • I'll say this. LBJ just did everything he needed to do to drop the hater parade down several notches. He was unstoppable all series.
