Ugh. 2 NT games on versus. WTF doesn't directv include versus in the sports pack?!
Is this in addition to the espn and fsc coverage? If so how will they decide who gets what qualifier?

Also, Ourand pointed out this replaces only the Fox Soccer deal. The ESPN and Univision MLS coverage still exists in addition to this deal.

This could be GREAT for MLS. If NBC does this right and hires the right announcers it will work. National Network that doesnt require a special package? WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER.
NBC, please do what ESPN did for the World Cup. Thanks.

It replaces FSC. Versus has a much higher profile and exposure than FSC (76mil homes for Versus, 39mil for FSC), it's more games than FSC had, and it's another of the big networks buying into soccer. Now ABC and NBC are in, and I would bet NBC will work to equal the ESPN/ABC production values that FSC just couldn't match.
We're talking about 3-4 nationally televised MLS games per week. That's silly.

It also suggests NBC may be a serious player when World Cup bidding rolls around, competing with ESPN. Fox, maybe not so much.
My only fear is NBC showing tape-delayed World Cup games, but we're in the 21st century now and even NBC wouldn't try that...I think.

NBC also does the Olympics and we should send a pretty good team there in 2012. Good cross promotion possibilities.

I read they put in a good offer. MLS decided on NBC instead. FSC believes their "bread and butter" is the Premier league and will continue to showcase that first and foremost.
It's great for MLS, but I think it shows how desperate NBC is for sports programming.

The US Soccer twitter used to release the lineup a couple hours before the game right? I don't see anything yet. Maybe a Klinsmann change or just working out the kinks?
