My buddies and I were texting about this. Guzan is a solid backup, so we at least have that.
I'd still rather have Timmy, but Guzan isn't some scrub.

He's a hell of a shot stopper, but not the best organizer. Scared about that combo plus our makeshift back line. The Klinsi era has been defined by two things, beating teams on the road that we probably shouldn't, and seeing one or two mistakes cost us games we otherwise dominated. Worried about the mistakes, not his ability to be a brick wall back there.

Guzan will be fine. He's pretty much the only reason Villa has a chance of surviving. My worry is that jurgen will go with rimando or Johnson for some reason

I don't think people are saying Guzan = Timmy. However, Timmy hasn't had the greatest season for Everton, and Guzan's been really good. I honestly don't think we're missing much from a shot-stopping standpoint.
As others have pointed out, we'll miss Tim's leadership and ability to organize our defense far more than his shot-stopping.
Whatever though...just beat Costa Rica and lose to Mexico and get Tim back beyond that. Shouldn't be too big a deal.

Guzan's been pretty good for Villa this year and as birdie pointed out, he was awesome on Monday against City. Don't see why this should affect the team too much.
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?

I'm going through the AO travel package. Probably dropping close to $6k once you include tickets, beer, food, etc.
Gocaps1 and Jdawg are both on the same trip too.
