  • Carolina is 1 and then BIG gap to Duke at 2,

    then fairly big gap to

    MD

then grouping of NCState, UVa, GT

then grouping of Wake, Clemson, Miami, BC, Florida State and VT

Cuse would be right there with Duke, and Pitt would be in the last big grouping.

The ultimate coach program. One mega fail post K and see how desirable that job is.

This would be trolling on a Duke board....but I'm actually old enough to remember Duke just being a decent program. I'm not 100% convinced that Duke will still be a monster after K leaves.

  • Lol, right now Duke is a better job than us. This can't even be debated.

Duke is basically the Notre Dame of basketball. They would have to make about three ABYSMAL hires in a row immediately post-K to not be a top three or four most desireable job in the country. Coach program is the worst invented term ever.

    Tier 1: UNC, Duke
    Tier 2: Cuse, Maryland, Pitt
Tier 3: UVA, NC State, GT, Florida State
Tier 4: VT, Clemson, Wake Forest
    Tier 5: Miami, BC

Any more granular ranking than that is a waste of time.

Do their facilities, recruiting base and ESPN support all go away when K does?

Their current coach would not leave Pittsburgh for Maryland.

  • Our current coach wouldn't leave Maryland for Pitt!

  • Arizona was a "coach program" until it wasn't.

I might move Cuse to the top tier of Tabe's ranking, I'd probably move NCST and GT up to the second tier. I think people are sleeping on GT because they were mired in mediocrity (or worse) with Hewitt and then they didn't make a good hire after Hewitt because it cost so much to buy him out. You're still talking about an ACC program in a major city in a fertile recruiting area that has a good tradition.

Yup....you don't switch jobs that are on the same tier.

I would drop GT and FSU to Tier 4 and move Wake up. Though the money and facilities argument might sway me that Wake is exactly where they should be.

Miami and BC being so bad should get their Athletic Departments and School Presidents fired, no excuse for either program to be as bad as they are.

He's been there quite a while and is happy. Doesnt mean it's a better job.

  • Which is why they're on the same tier, right? In general, barring an alumni situation, I doubt either school is taking the others coach.

GT is a mystery to me. They should be better, but except for Cremins they never have been good for any sustained amount of time. I do not believe that it is a great recruiting base because why is UGA not better then if GT isn't? I suspect that most coaches would look at GT as a steeping stone job to a better program, that is why I think they are third tier.

    TheRawDogg

  • You know, MD may actually be better than cuse for a basketball program.

Everyone knows cuse aint shit if they don't recruit in the state of Maryland.

    Fucking hacks.

You're right that Arizona isnt a coach program. They have very good support and facilities. People need to realize it wasn't very populated 50 years ago. UConn on the other hand has pretty mediocre fan support and isn't even the best academic school in their state.
