I was at his HOF induction (it was Eddie Murray's, too). Never heard a bad word said about him. RIP.

This is sad. He was a fine player. I put him slightly behind Bench and Fisk, but I thought he had to wait too long to make it to the HOF. He belongs there. It's a sad day for Mets fans and anyone else who watched him play.

A very sad day indeed. He was sick for awhile, thought it was in remission, but that fuckface Cancer came back real bad a few weeks ago.

He was a great Met and ambassador for the game. His trade to the Mets in Dec 1984 really put that team on the map that they were serious pennant contenders. SNY is playing opening day 1985 when Kid won his first game in a Mets uniform with a walk-off HR.

The survival rate for gliobastoma's is basically zero, and it's a horrible thing to watch someone go through.

I was at opening day in 1985, and still have the foam finger with the 1985 slogan that said "Catch the rising stars". He was the final big piece to that team. Started with the trade for Hernandez.....
