Orioles vs. Yankees series thread

  • For those keeping track at home, last night was an ump loss, jdredger loss, strO loss, and a redraven loss.

Won't have all four of those working against us tonight.

I'd also throw jgdomino in there for bumping the season predictions thread way, way, way too early.

But we may have the strongest force of them all to fight tonight: the jsh loss.

Tex will not be back tonight. Possibly at some point this weekend. Nova/Pettitte are still out. I read there was a chance Nova could be ready to start Sunday, but that doesn't look to be the case right now.

Granderson and Cano have nagging injuries, too. But they aren't keeping them out of the line-up.

    Some alarming HR numbers there.

I posted them anyway, but I don't know how much the numbers matter with Hammel, since he is a completely different pitcher than he used to be. It reminds me a little bit of the numbers all the Braves had against Hammel when he was a Rockie, but then those same players almost were no-hit by him.

Hammel faced the Yankees once this year, in NY. 6 IP. Gave up a 2-run HR to Chavez in the 2nd inning and the Orioles lost 2-1.

*edit* He also pitched against the Yankees in Baltimore. Somehow I missed that. 5 IP, 4 ER. Granderson homered against him in that game. He had a 2-0 lead, and a 5-3 lead and could not hold either lead in that game. David Phelps was the winning pitcher in relief.

  • That's what I'm hoping, that he's a different pitcher and you can throw those numbers out. Although he also gave up a HR to Granderson this year, on May 14 in Baltimore.

  • Wonder if there is a set limit they are going to try and keep Hammel under tonight or if he is simply going to be left in for as long as he is effective.

Go inside the last Orioles-Yankees series on NBC Sports Network's 'Caught Looking'

Here's the release form the NBC Sports Network cable channel:

With the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees currently tied for first place in the American League East, this week’s Caught Looking (Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network) will feature a behind-the-scenes look at this past weekend’s series between the teams.

Major League Baseball Productions embedded camera crews with both teams throughout the three-game series, providing a unique perspective on all the action between the lines as the Orioles took two of three to close the gap with the Yankees after trailing by as many as ten games earlier this season.

In addition to exclusive commentary from star players on both teams, the episode features compelling in-game audio throughout the series, highlighted by a wireless microphone worn by Orioles first base coach Wayne Kirby during Friday’s game. The episode also features in-depth interviews with managers Joe Girardi and Buck Showalter.

Off the field, camera crews captured many different moments with the teams and players. A crew travelled with the Orioles on their train ride from Baltimore to New York. Camera crews also spent time with Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy and Orioles third baseman Mark Reynolds, as they took in a day at the US Open. Another crew followed Yankees center fielder Curtis Granderson, as he spent time in the city before Saturday’s game. In addition, cameras followed Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long as he worked with players in batting cage.

Caught Looking, a new collaboration between Major League Baseball Productions and NBC Sports Group will follow two different teams each week, as the final eight weeks of the season unfolds. Each original episode will be one hour in length and will air on NBC Sports Network.

They take away your downvotes if you aren't compensating with enough upvotes.

You'll have to talk to Jeff about the rest.
