today was no fun.

BUT, it is September 9 and we are one out of first and leading for the 2nd WC. I think we have as good a chance as any.

Yanks have lost Tex. That is pretty huge actually. Their schedule is pretty weak but that doesn't always mean a ton. Look at the Red Sox's schedule last September. I'm hoping the Sox play the Yankees tough. Find some pride somewhere.

Rays have to face us. Despite all of our troubles, how many series in a row have we won or tied?

Oakland has a brutal schedule, including the next four at the Angels.

The Tigers are fading and have a tough schedule. As are the Sox. I am not worried about the Central.

Honestly, if I had to bet my house, and thank God I do not, I'd guess the Rays win the East, and the Os and the Angels are the WC teams.

Teixeira isn't that good. Losing markakis is way bigger.

Tough to bet on LAA too hard. Oakland has been just as good this year and they have three games in the loss column.

Next 6 are key. If we're 3-3 over the TBR and OAK series I'll feel pretty good with 13 games against SEA, BOS and TOR before finishing with 3 in TBR.

Oak has a brutal stretch coming up with the O's NY, texas 7 times and the angels. They are either going to win the division or fall out of the wildcard race. Don't think there is much in between for them given their schedule.

This Rays series is much more important that the Yankees' series as far as simply making the playoffs. (And of course, other series later will likely be even more important.)

But if we lose two of three, the Rays would be tied with us with momentum and a better team on paper. If we win two of three, we're up two games with less than 20 to play, and the toughest part of our schedule behind us. Big difference. Plus, I'd think it'd pretty important from a psychological standpoint to win the series after the Markakis thing just to keep the momentum going.

I actually think it's likely we will/won't make the playoffs depending on whether or not we win this series.

A sweep would be amazing.

O's miss both Price and Shields, can't complain about that.
