Just noticed that Cesar Izturis hit a HR last night for Milwaukee.

How many wins do you think can be attributed to those things?

I'm not sure. Hard to quantify something like that but I do think it exists. Only have to look at the difference between how this team played pre-Buck and how it played post-Buck. Of course that was going from a terrible manager to a good manager so the effects are probably a little exaggerated.

I'll probably be beat to this but Roch just tweeted hammels might miss start cause of sore knee.

What makes Buck a good manager and Trembley a bad one?

People who bang the drum for never bunting are the biggest idiots in the world. Congrats, you read a fangraphs article. There are a billion factors that go into play.

there are certain situations where it clearly makes sense to sacrifice bunt. i do believe that the majority of managers overuse the bunt, though.

Exactly. I think in the Red Sox game there was a situation where Hardy singled. I thought Showalter should've had Markakis bunt which, if successful, would've set up a man on second with one out for AJ. If Boston walked AJ than you would've had first and second, one out, for Wieters. If they pitched around Wieters than you would've had bases loaded for Davis I think. I would've taken those chances seeing how Markakis grounding into a double play was a foregone conclusion.

Looks like Chavez to DL with oblique. Hammel will be skipped and will not pitch tomorrow. Hoping to avoid DL with Hammel. Starters tomorrow AND Friday will come from AAA. Likely to be Hunter/Eveland in some combination.
