Bundy just allowed his first unearned run. Lino overthrew him on a routine throw back to the pitcher, runner went from first to third and then went home when the CF overthrew the ball to 3B.

There are unearned runs, and then there are SUPER MEGA UNEARNED runs.

This unearned run falls into the latter category.

There's no way that happened in a professional baseball game.

Threw too many pitches so they stopped him at 3.

You didn't mention Miguel Gonzalez, who I think deserves to be mentioned at this point. 2 IP, 3 strikeouts. Recorded the save and lowered his ERA to .51.

  • Good to see Jesse Beal back. Had a 3.86 ERA as a 19 year old in Delmarva back in 2010.

  • Avery seems to be hitting better now. Still not great but as others have said it is a pitchers park. Any chance we see him up in the majors this year instead of Chavez?

    wbonnington

  • I think the preference would be to let him continue starting everyday instead of calling him up to be a 4th OF. If Jones/Markakis/Reimold were to go down for an extended period of time than I think they might call him up to play over Chavez.

    jsh

  • Definitely need to keep playing him every day. He just went through a really rough stretch at the plate.

On another note, where in the world did the O's/Rangers thread go? Was it deleted so we can try to forget the past two nights?

    Hamilton broke it.

  • Since we're less than a month away..

    1. Houston - Kevin Gausman, RHP, LSU
    2. Minnesota - Mike Zunino, C, Florida
    3. Seattle - Byron Buxton, CF, HS

    4. Baltimore Orioles (Matt): The Orioles have had two very good picks in the last two drafts taking high school talent. To me, the best talent on the board here is Lucas Giolito but health is a question. I'm going to think that when a doctor checks Giolito, there won't be any long term damage and this was just a hiccup. Mark Appel and Kyle Zimmer need to be looked at and I would consider Carlos Correa here as well. If the O's go on talent, they could get the top arm in the draft. Lucas Giolito, P, California HS

Wouldn't we be more likely to want a college arm to be able to come up around the same time as Bundy, Machado and Schoop? Just my opinion, but with another solid college arm in the system that will be major league ready around 2014, we could make some serious noise that year.

Bundy/Giolito sounds like both a great top of the rotation, and also a TNT buddy cop drama.

  • Law is really high on Buxton right now. Said he has talent similar to guys like Josh Hamilton.

    charmcity3131

  • Piniero had 6 shutout innings before getting hit around in the 7th last night.

    fearthenoodle

  • Giolito would be a very interesting choice. He's been sidelined most of the spring with an elbow strain. I'm not sure if he'd take a discount on his signing bonus despite that though.

Not Oriole related but Law says after the top 5-6 picks he's hearing teams will take guys who will sign cheaply so that they can spend more money later in the draft.

    jsh

  • Would not be a fan of Giolito. Pray for Buxton

    Meast

  • It seems like this year there is more chaos than ever at the top of the board. Nobody really stands out, and they all have significant flaws. I'm somewhat terrified we end up making a bad pick. We need to really nail the next couple of drafts.

He retired the first batter and then gave up 4 straight hits (2 singles, 2 doubles)...Willie Eyre helped by letting the inherited runner score.
