  • Of all the affiliates, it seems like Frederick will have the lest sex appeal. Last year, that was Norfolk easily.

edit: of course, I haven't envisioned who'd be on Aberdeen's roster, because it really seems like last year's top draftees are skipping short season ball.

  • With the signing deadline now taking place in July Aberdeen would get the O's first round choice if it happens to be a college player.

Until May when Bundy joins them.

  • I'm guessing the Delmarva rotation will be Bundy, Bridwell, Berry, Rodriguez and Davies. Bundy and Davies could both start out with limited innings though since they'll both be on a strict innings limit. I'm guessing the remaining pitchers who were drafted last year will end up in the pen.

Delmonico will spend some time at 2B and 1B while Narron will spend some time in LF. Both will see time at 3B.

Whatttt, the best pitcher in the Orioles system aka Clayton Schrader is in Frederick

Is Jacob Petit going to Bowie?

    Meast

  • I haven't seen anything on Petit. Wouldn't shock me if Schrader started the year out at Bowie.

  • Glad to see this thread is back. Sadly, this thread is more important and interesting than the O's one even if I'm just looking for a false sense of hope that this team will actually compete one day.

Delmarva is going with 6-man rotation to start with Bundy, Berry & Bridwell as first 3. Not sure order but also Rodriguez, Chalas & Wilson.

Looks like Bowie rotation first time thru is Tim Bascom, Bobby Bundy, Jake Pettit, Cole McCurry & Zach Clark. Bascom pitches Thursday opener

  • Ward, catcher that was in ML camp, was suspended 50 games for a "drug of abuse".

    fearthenoodle

  • Ward was reportedly going to start the year in Bowie.

Interesting that Cole McCurry, who had a very good year out of the bullpen last year, is back in the rotation.

    jsh

  • Rotation for Frederick:

Kyle Simon, followed by Scott Copeland, Mike Wright, Nate Moreau and Justin Moore.

Simon is a 4th round selection out of Arizona, Wright a 3rd rounder out of ECU.

  • Good move.

When the Double-A Bowie Baysox open a new season here tonight at Prince George's Stadium against Harrisburg, LJ Hoes will bat third and play left field. But tomorrow night he will likely be at another position.

About ten days ago, the Orioles moved Hoes from left to center field at camp and he will likely begin playing center field for the Baysox tomorrow night. Bowie manager Gary Kendall said it might become a permanent change.

"Could be. Everything is subject to change," Kendall said a few moments ago in his office. "We'll see how the season goes and how he does. I think this makes it more viable for him down the road. I know he made a good impression with our manager and coaching staff in big league camp. If you can play left, center and right and hit some, you make yourself a candidate for a look see or a roster spot.

"I know that is what the organization is possibly thinking down the road. He's a good enough athlete and we are going to give it a try. He's on board with it and the organization is on board with it."

In his second Eastern Lg at-bat, Machado smokes line single to CF. Now 2-2. Don't tell Buck, still time to get him to Balt.

Jeez, what does Bascom have to do to make AAA? He was 9-4 with a 3.11 ERA last year with Bowie, Orioles' Minor League Pitcher of the Year, he is 27 years old, and he has to repeat?

Yeah,I've always liked Bascom. He's pretty mediocre by MLB standards (right hander with a 91 4 seamer) but I was surprised he didn't make it to Norfolk too. I imagine he'll be moved up this year when Tillman and Britton move up.

He's not really a prospect but I would have guessed he'd be in AAA by now.
