    All of it.

    I don't think so.

Still, I'd add Avery and Schrader also.

Do you think Schoop/Tillman alone is good enough to get Garza?

  • I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I would center the package around Matusz and give up fewer (maybe zero) prospects.

No, by itself it likely needs another prospect. Schoop/Hoes/Tillman

  • Any word on the Garza/Soriano talk?

If the Cubs would do it it makes perfect sense, especially if you think Arietta is a viable 4/5 starter moving forward.

  • To be fair, Ike Davis is actually pretty good and has turned things around the past two weeks. I still think Pearce has to make that play in left. He didn't start back immediately and then he went too far to his left before drifting back to his right. Chavez would have made that play.

I don't even think the Cubs care about Soriano's contract. They're trying to rebuild which means they're going to have a low payroll for the next few years. It's not like they can take the money they save and plug it into the draft or the international market. They're going to want as many prospects as possible and I think they'd gladly eat most, if not all, of Soriano's contract if it meant getting an additional prospect or two.

I think Garza is a pipe dream. I can't see Theo moving his best trade chip without getting a top 50 prospect in return and I hope Duquette wouldn't give up Machado or Bundy for him.

Probably the only way we can get Garza. Schoop/Matusz for Garza might work.

    jsh

  • I'm not opposed to moving Matusz.

Chances of getting Garza might hinge on that. You never know how another club might view Tillman, though. Especially moving to the NL. He is still very young.

Garza is nowhere close to worth Bundy or Machado, even straight up.

Well, obviously. Chavez is a plus defender.

  • ESPN’s Buster Olney made waves yesterday with a quick online story about the “toxic” nature of the Red Sox clubhouse, and it’s hard to disagree.

The Red Sox are not a happy bunch, with an uneasiness pervading the locker room. Players have quietly grumbled about everything from the lineup to early batting practices before day games to the handling of injuries, and there still exists a wall between manager Bobby Valentine and the players.

Valentine comes from an era when a manager could be a little rougher in his assessments, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll be able to reach this generation.

That was a bad pitch. But hed been lights out so far in the game and if Betemit had his foot on the bad to double off Dickey the inning wouldve been over

If you are lights out, you aren't giving up ropes to the pitcher and loading the bases. Jake's problem is mental. He has great stuff. If he can't learn to stay focused with men on base, he's not going to have a successful career. He's still young and there s time to improve but if he doesn't do it soon, he need to go to the pen where he can be dominant for an inning or 2.

Right. But we also don't have the MiL depth to move him for less unless we involve a 3rd team or go up in quantity.

Not really I was giving Neal and rhtbg a hard time when we were beating the pirates. The reason I didnt post much in the braves thread was because I was in OC for the weekend and didnt have access to the internet.

You should go back and stay a couple weeks. You deserve it.

Eh, I don't see it that way. The pitch to Dickey was bad. But walking Duda was an obvious pitch-around, and the right move even though Davis has hit a little better recently.

I did not see a lack of focus at all.

  • I really don't think Arrieta's start was that bad. Just seemed like one or two bad pitches. He's not great and it wasn't like he faced the Red Sox or Yankees but a lot of the posts on this thread make it seem like he left in the third inning after giving up 7 runs.

Agreed. I just think Theo can do better than a 24 year old who has had little to no success at the MLB level and a top 75 prospect (Schoop).

Can we ban redraven at least just from threads with "Orioles" in the title?

It's been requested. FTN seems to think the best and brightest will have it figured out by the all-star break

Of 2019, right after they get us an actual time stamp.

I would never make that move. When you consider age and money, that's a terrible move for us. Garza isn't even having a great year in the NL. His numbers would probably be very similar to Matusz right now if he pitched for us.

I can't say if another fielder makes that play or not but pearce got a bad jump and took a bad angle.

Yeah, considering where he was for the 5 or 6 starts prior to the Pirates game I don't think last night was anything to get worked up over. He hit a moderate rough spot in one inning, that was it.
