Someone look back at the film and tell me how many outside zone runs were to the left side of the line. Seemed like there was a string of 5-6 runs overall that was to the left.

We suck at running that stretch zone play. I don't care if it's a staple of the offense, we're terrible at it.

If Portis or Keiland Williams is still back there, nearly all of those are stopped for 0 or -1. Hightower made something out of nothing about 10 times.

Don't be an asshole. There will be plenty of games to bitch about. This isn't one of them.

+1....I am enjoying this...no one can take this one away

  • Redskins players decline day off

The good vibes from the Redskins preseason carried right over into the regular season on Sunday.

Rex Grossman made Mike Shanahan look smart for a week, and last year’s awful defense looked much improved. Washington’s wild optimism for this team will only grow from here. Especially after they hear the following story.

Shanny gave the team Monday off after the big win, which is traditional after the victory. Led by linebacker London Fletcher, the team vetoed the idea. They will watch film and work out instead.

“It’s just something special, some little buzz going around in here,” Anthony Armstrong said after the game via the Washington Post. “I don’t know what it is, but it’s something special.”

We remember a huge amount of optimism about the Redskins last year after their opening week win. The Shanahan era would be different, we were told. Instead the ’10 season devolved into an ugly campaign centered around Donovan McNabb and Albert Haynesworth.

This Redskins squad may still not have enough talent to win consistently, but it’s harder to imagine this group creating so much negative drama.

  • NFC is wide open with the exception of Greeen Bay, Philly, Chicago, the NFC South. Regular season time is our time.

  • LOL at the Rex made Shanahan look smart for a week, anyone smart who watched Rex play at the end of last season would of seen he easily deserved the start. This team rallies around Rex and Rex has way more confidence than he did post superbowl which was the season 4 freakin years ago.

  • We already smacked Green Bay Chicago and Philly last year with that weak ass team. No concern here.

Neild is the ultimate example of why you keep and acquire draft picks. He was the next-to-last player drafted. Sometimes those guys hit for you. Throw enough darts and some of them hit.

Plus, they don't cost $25M a year like some of the garbage we've given up the picks for in the first place.

  • Anyone hearing any trade rumors yet (from someone reliable) involving the Redskins or NFC East foes??

I know its early in the season and these usually heat up closer to trade deadline, but sometimes you hear things now.

I think it's kind of unrespectful- Ovie

Just asking... there seemed like there were quite a few injuries (Berry in KC, Jackson and Amendola in STL, etc.) to playoff contending teams.. And since there is no minor league to call people up from, just 8 Practice squad guys plus FA, the only way to really address things is via trade.

As I said, probably a little early to hear a ton of trade rumors, but I'd have to imagine a team like KC that thinks it can contend, or STL out west might be willing to make a trade now if they think it will help them make playoffs.

  • I'm not getting fooled by Rex Grossman because we all know what's ahead. But it has been obvious since the end of last season that things are different at Redskins Park. F Clinton Portis, you win with guys like Chris Neild.

I'll take everyday tests that tell you your friend doesn't understand football for $400, Alex.

The real reason I'm here is I have a FedEx Field question: I am going to the game this weekend. I am looking for tickets in a specific section (wife's friend has season tickets.) The thing is, that friend's seats are lower bowl, first row. Has anyone sat that close to the field? As a general rule, I don't like front row seats because you have to look over people. What is an acceptable row at FedEx Field where you are safely over the heads of people on the sideline?

I'm 6'5" so I'll be fine. My wife is only 5'0".

Edit to add: has anyone sat in the first row of the upper deck? Metal bar issues or are they clear?

  • I'm not 6'5", but don't need to be sitting in row 1 in Section 426. I enjoy the seats in the upper deck to get a better prospective of aligning, spacing, and other things you might miss from sitting closer. We normally watch the last drive or two from the lower bowl so we can bolt out of the stadium at 0:00 to miss traffic.

fixed for you...usually row 6 or more and you are good unless directly behind the bench...
