  • If the Skins land RGIII, the Caps will fall to No. 3 in this city with anything short of a run to the finals.

The Nats will take over No. 2 next year.

  • You know what, with Cleveland only having to move up one pick, Minnesota is going to trade with them. Plus it's an AFC team. If Cleveland wants RGIII, they are getting him.

I quit. Our only hope is the RGIII camp pulling a power play and telling Cleveland to suck a dick.

  • 3 first round picks and a couple of second rounders is the current rumor for the top pick. If you are willing to pay I bet the pick is available.

  • I'm not necessarily advocating signing Flynn and taking Richardson, just saying it could happen if they decide trading up for one of the QBs isnt worth the cost. They are certainly going to focus on improving the offense through the draft. I am not sure Royster and Helu are more than really good depth. I also realize its not Shanny style to draft a RB early.

The Vikings were mocked when they took Adrian Peterson when they had Chester Taylor coming off a big year. How'd that work out? Skins passed on Peterson for Landry.

  • Zero chance. Zero.

Running back is probably dead last on our list of needs on the offensive side of the ball, minus tight end.

QB, OL and WR are all much bigger needs. To ignore those areas for a running back is completely ridiculous.

  • The Redskins haven't had a consistent top 10 QB since Mark Rypien. That was the beginning of the Clinton Administration. And don't bring a couple years of Brad Johnson at me, or the Gus Bus. It's been more than 15 years since we had a guy like that. Bottom line is a consistent playoff team needs a good QB. It's time.

If the Colts can find a team dumb enough to do that, then they should take it. How would a team that likely sucks expect to build around a supposed franchise QB with zero other 1st rounders and 1 second rounder in a 3 yr span? There's very little chance the QB would be successful. Ultimately he'd get battered and leave for another team if he's still standing.

  • I'm pretty sure I've just convinced myself there is a better chance of Luck to the Redskins than RGIII.

With the return they figure to get for Luck, they might just decide they can't pass it up, see what Peyton has next year and if he is clearly done, next year is a good QB class for them to look for his replacement, too.

Maybe they decide they don't want to deal with the drama of taking Luck. And there would be a ton of drama with that. The Mannings will bitch about being disrespected and the Lucks have no interest in being a clipboard holder for a couple years.

If for some reason the Colts decided they were willing to deal that pick, Luck is a lock to come here. Cleveland and Washington would be the only teams in position to do it and Cleveland would probably be happy to just stay at 4 and take RGIII and let us give up multiple picks.

That being said, I think the Colts just take Luck and let it play out.

  • Hmmm, be the most popular black guy in the area, sign 70 billion dollars worth of endorsements, be the face of a franchise that bleeds football and adores its team, and have your name in lights in the nation's capital...or play in Cleveland?

    Tough choice, imo!

  • Don't count out Luck making a power play to get out of going to Indy if he's going to be Peyton's backup

    vish9

  • Yeah, I don't think the Colts could actually get that much for him.

The Vinny Skins would do that. I don't think this regime would.

It's tough. As much as I want those guys, how do you build a team around them with no first or second rounders the next year?

You'd have to be really efficient in free agency. I'd probably go with it in the end, because we are so desperate for a guy like that, but that's a lot to give up.

I think this is a pretty decent possibility and will only intensify leading up to the draft.

It's a pretty bad deal for Luck with the new wage scale for rookies. If he's backing up Peyton for a year or two, he's losing future income. It would be different if he were making silly money, but he won't anymore. Plus he's clearly a starting QB in the NFL right now. Holding a clipboard is wasting his time.

This would all change, of course, if Indy finds a trade partner for Peyton. Then it's cut and dry.

  • Luck just needs to troll his interviews so hard with that neck beard to increase his chances of playing in DC.

How about the only question that matters:

what will the 80th anny uniform look like? Nothing will be better than the 75th we wore against the Giants in '07.

Don't let UA design that shit, no matter wut.

  • The more I look at it, the less I see us being able to snag RGIII, unless for some reason Cleveland just doesn't want him. And I don't imagine that.

Minnesota trading down one spot is a no-brainer. They'll get an extra pick and get to take exactly who they would have wanted at 3 anyway, since Cleveland would only be trading up to prevent us from jumping them for RGIII. The guy they would most likely want is Claiborne and by trading with us, they would need Tampa to pass on him. And I don't think there is a chance in hell of that happening.

Plus, Cleveland is an AFC team that Minnesota would never have to deal with, while we could potentially pose a threat at some point down the line.

It's over, guys. It's over. We have a better chance of the Luck and Manning families orchestrating a power play to get them to Washington or making it rain on Indy to move up to No. 1.

    I am so, so sad.

With every second, I am starting to think our best option is the sign Flynn/draft Blackmon/Jeffery route.

    :(

  • All this is so depressing. If Barkley declares for the draft like he's supposed to we literally have none of these issues.banghead

  • Yep, fuck that guy. What an idiot. I hope he breaks his fucking leg next year and never takes a snap in the NFL.

    ugotwilcoxed

  • If RGIII just pre-LeBroned Cleveland and told them that he wasn't going to play there from the beginning so they wouldn't get attached to him, at least some of their fans would have to respect the shit out of that, right?

  • You know, with everyone expecting the action to be at No. 3 with Minnesota's pick, we could try to entice the Rams to move out of No. 2 when no one expects it.

The problem is, you'd think the Rams would want Kalil or Blackmon and it's doubtful they could get either at 6.

If that happened and we took RGIII at 2, Minny would be elated to take Kalil third. Then Cleveland probably goes Blackmon 4 and Claiborne 5 to Tampa. I doubt they could be enticed to do it, but figured I'd throw that out there.

We should at least look into it.

    ugotwilcoxed

  • Here's the problem with the "RG3 is too good for Cleveland" argument. He goes to Baylor in Waco, Texas and loves it there. He's not a big city guy. He walks around in a mask to fuck with people and not let them know it's him. He doesn't seem like a fame guy.

He wants to be a lawyer, maybe Washington DC would be interesting to him, and the money would be better, but I don't think the bigger city aspect plays here.

I agree that there's a lot more moving parts to drafting Luck #1 in Indy than experts are portraying.

Hastily Made Cleveland Tourism Video: 2nd ...

So The Cleveland Board of Tourism was not happy with the first video that I turned in. In fact, they said that upon viewing it, three of the board members moved away. They insisted that I turn in a proper Cleveland tourism video, otherwise they will pursue litigation. So I was really planning on buckling down and giving it my all this time, but there was a "Rock of Love" marathon on VH1 last night that I didn't want to miss, so I cranked this video out in even less time than the first one. Roughly 35 minutes total. Despite this, I'm rather pleased with how it turned out, and I think they will be too. mikepolkjr.com
