They wont be getting Kalil if they trade with us at 6 though. He will be taken by the Vikings probably.

Right, but in your plan, they'd still be getting Kalil or Blackmon. Skins trade up to three. Rams trade with Browns. Browns take RGIII, Skins take Blackmon or Kalil, Rams take the other. Not sure how the Skins trading up to three makes it so Rams can't trade down to 4.

  • True. I guess it wouldnt change much for them.

  • Did anyone see the RG III press conference? Very impressive. Smart, poised, a sense of humor and a mature perspective. That plus the throwing motion, accuracy and speed....Skins really need to make him happen.

Anyone else more worried about Miami than Cleveland? QB is their one major missing piece.

No because we have a top 6 pick and the Finns don't. Cleveland is the obvious concern becuase of their higher pick and 2nd 1st rounder.

  • The Redskins picking Tannehill at 6 is going to be the biggest letdown of all time.

  • I'd rather pick mo Claiborne than tannehill at 6 to be honest, despite our need at QB.

This assumes we're not willing to trade at least 2 firsts and a 2nd for RG3, but that aside, Claiborne> tannehill

I think it's kind of unrespectful- Ovie

That would be so LOL bad, I'm almost rooting for it.

  • are there any decent qbs next year? skins really need 2 more drafts unless they hired the free agent whisperer

That might be enough for me to call it quits. I NEED RGIII to happen. Need it. There is no hope for this franchise without a QB. Sure there are lots of other pieces needed, but that's the common thread over the past 15-20 years of suck.

Aaron Murray, Tyler Bray, Landry Jones, some guy named Matt Barkley (?), Tyler Wilson, Logan Thomas, and I'm sure one or two more guys will pop up (Whoever plays at ND gets exposure for example)

Luck and RG3 are great prospects, but 2013 will have the depth better than 2012....

  • I'm going to laugh when the Skins fanbase melts down over signing Peyton. It's going to be the most surreal thing ever from the outside.

I only included him because of cam newton comparison. Good size and mobility means people will give him a chance. I don't know where Virginia tech is expected to be this year, but if they are title or maybe even just ACC contender, I'm sure his name gets thrown around a year from now

  • The point is, I'm not passing on the chance at RG3 to roll the dice on getting any of those clowns outside of Barkley.

I'm not going that far. I think Aaron Murray will be a good QB, like his SEC credentials. Also hear Bray is pretty good, though I haven't seen him play very much. But yes, Barkley definitely appears to be amongst the cream of the crop next year and if I could trade the 2013 1st round pick for him right now, I would do so.

Was also going to throw in Danny O'Brien in the list btw, but wasn't sure if it was too soon...

You win in this league with elite QB play. To this point there is only one guy you've mentioned that has shown to be that kind of prospect and that's Barkley.

Essentially your plan is to use our picks and cap money to make the team better overall this year, which will in turn get us a couple more wins and put us in the middle of the first round next year. At that point we're in a year where we HAVE to pick a QB and we have less ammunition to do it, in a class with one less elite prospect.

A team like ours that so desperately needs a QB is not guaranteed to be in the position to get one like this. QB matters above all in this league, if you have the opportunity to get a guy you think can be elite (like virtually EVERYONE thinks Luck and RG3 will be) you do it. Making a run at an elite QB is worth a potential starter or rotation player that you'd lose somewhere else by trading picks.

1.) yes I was joking, just a fear as a terp fan that next great QB will have left here cause of edsall

2.) I don't know if you trust "sources", but the fact that we'd have to give up at least 2 firsts, 1 second, and another late pick is ridiculous. I understand your sentiment, but if I could come out of this draft with a starting safety, corner, tackle, and another future starting ILB for when London leaves, I'd be happy. If RG3 is cheaper than said price, then it's a different conversation. I would trade 2 firsts for him, but not much in addition.

  • Well if that's all you'd trade for him then you fall in the camp that you don't want him. There's not a chance in hell a swap of 1st rounders + 2013 1st gets you anywhere near Griffin, look at the draft value chart. You'll need at least a 2nd and probably a 3rd or 4th in 2013.

  • We're in a unique position to trade picks for one of the better QB prospects in some time, and have the available cap space to make smart, long term FA signings to cover existing holes. We have to utilize this situation, it's not just any other year.

But if Cleveland and Miami come out of free agency with quarterbacks they are comfortable with the market softens considerably.
