Official Redskins Offseason Thread

  • The only part of the game today I saw was the last two minutes of the first half. Based on that, the first two things they need to do are:

    Cut Moss

    FIre Shanahan

I know the latter won't happen but that has to be the worst clock management sequence I've seen in a long time. And taking your helmet off speaks for itself.

  • Looking at the mock drafts, we simply have to trade up to 3.

Who the hell would we even want at 6 that would be there?

Blackmon is the only enticing option. However, I don't think he will be there and drafting a franchise WR is insanely dumb when you don't have a quarterback yet.

I am intrigued by the idea of signing Flynn and drafting Blackmon, but it's not really feasible since you can't be sure Blackmon would fall to 6 and he's not worth trading up for.

Seriously, who would we take at 6 if we stood pat and Blackmon wasn't there?

    Dre Kirkpatrick? Riley Reiff?

They would help, but fuck no.

walterfootball had us taking Landry Jones at 7 last week. I don't see a chance in hell of that. He just does not seem like a Shanny QB in any way, shape or form.

We're basically in a bidding war with the Browns to move up in my opinion.

This is going to be stressful as shit.

Yeah, that will fix it. Fire the best coach we have had in 20 years. Who the hell would we hire that's better? I'm sure big-name coaches will be lining up for us after Danny shows another highly-respected coach the door after two years.

    Get a clue moran!

    ugotwilcoxed

  • If Shanahan were to get fired he would have made 17.5 mill per year. I think lots of coaches would sign up for that. He's not getting fired though.

Morris Claiborne would be a good pick.

So I respond "Tell you what, I'll read Dreams of My Father if you read MEIN KAMPF"

  • There is a negative chance that Morris Claiborne would get past Tampa Bay.

    He is not an option.

  • Here's a mock draft that looks pretty good I think. Has Skins signing Flynn and drafting Trent Richardson.

  • Why would the Redskins take Trent Richardson? He would be the BPA most likely, but they don't need him.

Another brilliant idea. Fire a coach who improved his defense dramatically this year. And switch to a coordinator who runs a completely different scheme and completely undo the last two years of building a good 3-4 defense.

Where do you people get this shit?

    Seriously.

    ugotwilcoxed

  • LOL Trent RIchardson. That is a joke, right?

Yeah, let's waste a pick on a running back when we have TWO good young running backs in Helu and Royster.

Drafting running backs high is always a terrible, terrible idea anyway. Especially in this offense where any schmo can run for 1200 yards.

    :facepalm

    WTF

Anything but RGIII is a disaster, but drafting a running back is probably the worst pick we can make.

    BrunoTerp

  • In the event we cant get RG3, i think it would be smart to just continue building our O line

    terps32

  • Yeah, if push came to shove and Cleveland out-bids us for RGIII and Blackmon is gone, you just have to go OL I guess. Reiff or Martin. Maybe you could trade down too and get more picks. None of those sound good.

Have to get RGIII. The more I think about it, the more I think we might just have to give up next year's first rounder. Fuck it, I would do it, too.

Danny should just buy the Browns too, make sure they don't pick RGIII. Then sell them immediately after the draft.

    not true.

we just need to keep building this team OL, DL, ILB, CB, & S. there's simply no reason to out leverage yourself for one position. QB is our most desparate need but we still have so many other needs.

Maybe we trade 4 picks for Barkley in 13.....that will make the fans happy.....sigh

For franchise quarterbacks, there is no price too high to obtain him.

    ugotwilcoxed

  • It IS a disaster. We've drafted two safeties and two CBs in the top 10 within the last 12 years. We've picked OL, we've picked linebackers. We need an effing QB to build around. Filling out other positions means NOTHING when you don't have a QB. You don't build a team around those types of players. We've tried plugging top players at these random positions forever and it's gotten us nowhere.

    BrunoTerp

  • No more waiting, this is the offseason we get a qb

    luckyterp3

  • BTW, we are big Falcons fans in the playoffs. Every round they advance, the less important Cleveland's second first-round pick becomes.

If the Falcons win a couple games and end up picking somewhere 28-32, then that pick isn't nearly as meaningful.

Then they have to consider dealing next year's first-rounder. Does Cleveland have the balls to do that? That doesn't really mesh with their history.

All I know is I am going to the draft this year and my friends and I agreed we are turning off our phones so we have no clue what's going on until picks are made. That's is going to be the death of me.

    ugotwilcoxed

  • Also, who is RGIII's agent going to be?

We need someone will pull a power play and tell Cleveland to fuck off. My client has no interest in playing in your shithole of a city that's never on national TV and offers little in the way of endorsements. Whereas Washington will make it rain on us.

I am just making shit up now. I hate this. I HATE this.

    ugotwilcoxed

  • RG3 would be the biggest star to hit DC since? He'd be bigger than Ovechkin after one monster game. Good God, the entire area would anoint him a king, the hype would be unreal

    BeadsBees

  • Only 116 days until we find out who we get. fingergun

    BrunoTerp

  • He would instantly become the top dog in D.C. Before even playing a game. Every company in the city would be after him to hawk their product.

Ovi in his prime wouldn't sniff what RGIII could do here. Strasburg and Harper will become big if the team starts winning big. But the Redskins QB will always be the talk of the town and they have been trying to find a guy like this forever.

It would just be unreal how much hype he would get. And if he goes out there and starts showing out on the field, it will be completely out of control.

    ugotwilcoxed

  • We are in such a tough position. Take whoever falls to 6 and fill a need at a position other than qb, or jeopardize this year's and next year's drafts.

I say go for it. Who is the last franchise qb the skins put under center? Gus Frerotte? Joe Theisman? It's time to have a qb we can depend on for 8+ years. And gtfo with that Matt Flynn nonsense. He's another gap-filler until the team is shitty enough to draft a #1 guy. Make it happen Shanny

The brother Skins fans (among the greatest people on Earth) would rally hard, and you'd probably see half of PG County flip. It'd be big. Add RGIII to the Skins and Prince to the Nats and maybe Leonsis gets the message to not take shit for granted.
