  • This is called the draft thread

  • How about the only question that matters:

what will the 80th anny uniform look like? Nothing will be better than the 75th we wore against the Giants in '07.

  • Danny has the Draft Kraken just simmering on the back burner right now. He's having sugarplum dreams of what WRs he's going to give his RGIII as a welcoming present.

  • So 6th or 7th pick?

    fishbowlguy

  • get RGIII or the entire offseason is a waste.

This organization will never build from the ground up under Snyder. He's still a huge cancer. Our only hope is hitting the lottery on a franchise QB.

  • Here is the only thing about RG3 - everyone compares him to Cam, but he is not nearly the physical specimen that Newton is - RG3 is more like a slightly larger Pat White with a better arm. I am a WVU grad and even I knew that Pat couldnt play QB in the league. But Hogie is right - this team's future revolves around getting a legit qb. I just hope that RG3 is the one, and people dont just think he is the next Cam Newton because I dont think he is.....

    fishbowlguy

  • Honestly I don't respect major free agents who come to the Redskins. It's an awful organization and they're just looking to get paid - more so than most free agents. It's a pretty big red flag as far as I'm concerned. And that's especially true for WRs.

    Yep

    RGIII or bust

  • 1000000% chance Bowe comes here.

well - the listing i found for Griffin was 6'2 218 - Vick is listed 6'0 215. Question is how accurate are griffin's ht/wt - college guys always seemed to be listed taller and bigger. But I think Vick is the more accurate comparison. And getting the next Vick would be great, as long as he slides and takes less punishment than Vick does. I do love that Griffin throws such a nice deep ball.

    fishbowlguy

  • Screw free agents. RGIII and a ton of picks.

  • I'll copy what I said in the season thread, regarding the draft:

I think Minnesota's third pick is where the action will be for a trade.

The Rams are good at 2. They can get an absolutely dominant left tackle in Kalil or they can give Bradford an elite receiver that they desperately need to bolster a really bad receiving unit in Blackmon. And people know they aren't taking a quarterback anyway, so I doubt anyone bites.

Ponder wasn't very good for Minny, but they did just take him 16th last year. I think they have so many other needs that they would gladly trade down a couple picks to acquire more.

According to the value chart, for us to move up to 3, our first, second and fourth rounder is more than fair value to do so. We should do that in a heartbeat. However, knowing how badly we need a QB, Minny might try to jack up that price and squeeze a third rounder from us. And I would absolutely do that if we had to. We are so desperate, I would consider a first and second to guarantee RGIII. We need him so badly.

The real X factor, like we have been saying here, is the Browns. They are a wild card and they could go a number of ways. If they fall in love with RGIII and decide to start fresh with a QB, we are more or less fucked. If the Browns are determined to get him, they could always just say fuck it and give up both first rounders.

However, they have a lot of needs. A lot of people seem to think they won't go the elite QB route, but take the Cincy model and draft an elite skill position guy high and then go QB with the second first-rounder.

We want the Rams to take Kalil, basically. Because that means Blackmon will be there for Cleveland at 4. They could take Blackmon and then a Tannehill-Foles-Jones later in the first round.

This is the perfect scenario for us:

    1. Colts - Luck
    2. Rams - Kalil
    3. Redskins trade up - RGIII
    4. Browns - Blackmon

Danny's already written 50+ million dollar checks to both, and he's postdating them as we speak.

  • I forgot to include in my initial post, the second rounder would have to be in the trade. The second and fourth rounder is fair trade to move up. It would suck to give up a second rounder, but I would do it.

There's also the chance the Colts do something stupid like not drafting Luck. I wouldn't put it past that organization. But otherwise I agree, the Minny pick is the one to look at.

  • The Browns should just sign Flynn. That's what I'd do.

    ugotwilcoxed

  • I think its very likely the Rams trade out of #2. They can get a mint for the QB and they are going to have a new coach who will want a complete rebuild.

    I predict:

    Skins trade:
    #6 pick
    2012 3rd rounder
    2013 1st rounder

    Rams trade:
    #2 pick
    2012 5th rounder

  • Don't worry, guys. It all turns around next year.

  • Ehhh, the thing there is teams know St. Louis isn't actually a threat to pick a quarterback and will call their bluff. Not that I wouldn't consider it to guarantee RGIII, but the Rams are not taking a quarterback if they are forced to keep their pick. Other teams know this. Bradford is guaranteed way too much money and he's untradeable because of that. And it's not like he's really a bust or anything. He was pretty good as a rookie and this year the team was just decimated by injuries, which gave him zero chance of success.

    ugotwilcoxed

  • Walterfootball sums up perfectly why we would be insane to trade up to No. 2 and that they are no threat to take a QB:

"Matt Kalil is a no-brainer pick if the Rams hold on to the second slot. St. Louis' front office has way too much invested in Sam Bradford to have him suffer David Carr syndrome. The offensive line is a mess, as right tackle Jason Smith stinks and left tackle Rodger Saffold is too overmatched to be stationed on the blind side.

Getting better protection for Bradford is paramount, especially in the wake of the Brandon Lloyd trade. And besides, Kalil is a better prospect than both Morris Claiborne and Justin Blackmon."

Yeah, they ain't getting much for that pick. Minny has the golden ticket, assuming RGIII impresses during workouts, etc. and the Colts pick Luck.
