  • I can't even imagine a world where NC State has a semblance of a chance to win a National Championship in this day and age. They are as much of a longshot as Chaminade and Pepperdine in my eyes.

    Sad part is that these are the folks who could get into a college (sure its State) and follow a message board, making them like the top 10%, which means there are significantly more people who are consideably dumber.

  • The overall narrative on that board that Gottfried was Debbie's ace in the hole all along and that he is a top tier hire (and that no one actually rejected them) never ceases to amuse me. That night that Debbie sent out the e-mail saying that finding the right coach was turning out to be a challenge they were all ready to fire Debbie and/or commit suicide. She had laid out criteria for a coach she wanted that included a long track record of success plus (if I remember correctly) CURRENTLY coaching in the NCAA tournament, and Gottfried meets none of it. Then when Gottfried is announced and Debbie completely distracts from the hire by calling out Gary, they completely forgot their anxiety. All of a sudden Gottfried is an A-lister, Debbie is a genius, and they are a rising power. It'd be like if we literally denied the fact that we badly wanted Leach because at Edsalls' press conference Kevin Anderson called out Frank Beamer. For all I know Gottfried will be a good coach and I do think he hired some good assistants, but their denial over how far they had to reach to hire him is absolutely priceless.

    There's a good chance he's just posturing because his announcement is supposed to be Friday and he doesn't want to give anything away.

    But he is still scheduled to visit UCONN next week. And the daggers don't ever stop with that school. I imagine there's going to be a lot of spin on Pack Pride today.

    This is their thread welcoming Rodney Purvis. Very natural thread for any team to create. Now, if you scroll about halfway down, you'll see a post that contains a couple pictures of Purvis and an old school NCST team. Again, nothing out of the ordinary - when a recruit commits, you like to have people know who he is, and see him in .... EXCEPT THAT ONE OF THE PICTURES IS OF TERRENCE ROSS!
