  • Charles Woodson is pretty much a lock at this point, right?

Elway says Broncos to use tag on Clady to get long term deal done. Sorry Dixon, but maybe something will change.

I mentioned this vile possibility some pages back when it dawned on me that they had used their Franchise tag on some donk kicker last year and had it available.

[JoeBuckTerp]That is a DISGUSTING act by the Denver Broncos.[/JoeBuckTerp]

I figured you'd be on top of it but you bring us good info in the Ravens thread so doing my best to pay it back one bottom line breaking news at a time.

  • Pretty good summary of offseason ahead for us.. Threw in some personal opinions on the FA situation... not looking for too much turnover, also figuring in we'll lose some guys not on this list to cuts after offseason begins.

    Unrestricted free agents:
Lorenzo Alexander, LB- Loved him since the no helmet preseason play, probably top priority
Jordan Black, OT- Only if we don't sign Polumbus, let him fight for last OL spot
    Jammal Brown, OT- GTFO
Chris Cooley, TE- Only have space if Fred and Logan leave.
Fred Davis, TE- Like to sign 4 year deal, but he can't ask for top TE money.
Kedric Golston, DE- Like him cheap, not hurt if he leaves
Cedric Griffin, CB- Prefer to upgrade CB with draft and FA, but wouldn't oppose him as depth
Rex Grossman, QB- Maybe 1 more year as a 3rd stringer?
Bryan Kehl, LB- Don't know him too well, not really a priority
Kory Lichtensteiger, OC- Definitely one of the priority FA
Tyler Polumbus, OT- Would be nice to have him as backup, have to be cheap though
Sav Rocca, P- Bring him back, with competition.
Madieu Williams, S- Only would take him at pretty much 1 year minimum deal, pending draft
Chris Wilson, LB- Try to resign, but a team might want him as a starter and pay well for him

    Restricted free agents
Chris Baker, NT- Let him hit FA
    Brandon Banks, WR- LOL
Rob Jackson, LB- Definite tender, might be out of our price range though if a team gets crazy
Logan Paulsen, TE- Tender or short term cheap deal
Nick Sundberg, LS- Tender or short term cheap deal
Darrel Young, FB- Tender or sign for a few years. FB don't have much value, so should be cheap

RFA tender amounts in 2013 are:
    • $1.323 million for right of first refusal and/or original draft round compensation
    • $2.023 for right of first refusal and second round draft selection
    • $2.879 for right of first refusal and first round draft selection

I think it's kind of unrespectful- Ovie

  • Bring back:

    Fred Davis, Esq.
    Alexander
    Jackson
    Young
    Lichtensteiger
    Golston
    Polumbus
    Rocca
    Paulsen
    Sundberg

Top 5 guys all have to be back.

    Devils0720

  • Jackson will be tough. Someone will throw him big money to be a full time starter.

    b1210k

  • He's the only one of the group they might have to throw money at, which should help. Fred is going to come relatively cheap and incentive laden and I think the other guys have more value to us than the rest of the league. Lorenzo and Darrell Young are critical to us, but I don't think there's a huge market for a primarily special teamer and a fullback.

Darrell Young has already reached CORE REDSKIN status for me, but he's also actually good.

I know he's a terp but if Willams is on the roster next season, we have failed in our off-season.

I'm not certain of every team's off-season needs but a team with some extra wiggle room might throw some real money at Alexander. I hope that isn't the case but he might cost more than we hope to keep.

  • Why are people worried about Jackson? If we just give him a first round tender no one will touch him, right?

    Titanterp

  • I bet Danny tries to bring Lorenzo to Pittsburgh with him.

  • Def want Lo Alexander, and Rob Jackson back. Those are givens. OK with Polumbus too if hes not too expensive, and wouldnt mind giving Durrel Young a multi year deal. I think FB is way more relevant in our offense than most.

We could do that, but it eats up cap room and can make for disgruntled player. Not to mention it only gets us 1 more year with him, putting more work in to next offseason.

On another note, nobody on our team deserves the franchise tag. Way too expensive compared to the caliber of players hitting FA (most are role players or worse) and Fred Davis would be way too much because if what he got last year.

  • Charles Woodson and Ed Reed for the most Redskins offseason ever

    ravensnterps

  • With our BS cap penalty we cant afford to tag anyone, not that we really have anyone who is fitting for it anyway.

Next year we'd have no cap penalty, though, and an overall increase in the salary cap, I believe.

Could be a good temporary measure. See how he and Orakpo play together, or play off each other. Then he and Rak would be FAs in the same year.

Judge then who deserves a bigger deal, and who can be shipped out/traded/etc.

Mayock, in answering a question about the Eagles, says this is one of the best safety classes in years. Redskins need a free safety.

    @john_keim
Mayock says #Redskins should be looking at a safety such as Jonathan Cyprien in the 2nd round. Says a dropoff after top 3 safeties.

The National Harbor Redskins? When the Washington Redskins opt for a new stadium by 2027, the District appears to be a long shot, Virginia a dark horse and Prince George's County the front-runner. While 14 years seems eons away, it's really not too early to start dealing with politicians and securing a site. The Redskins are already working back channels with the District government, according to political and business sources familiar with past, present and future moves concerning the stadium. Indeed, Mayor Vincent Gray, a regular visitor to the FedEx Field executive suites, ended his brief boycott of the name Redskins once a team official inquired about the ban. Talking with those sources, one surprising theme occurred:

  • Really hope we get a good safety out of this draft class. RT, CB, S is all we REALLY need (besides re-signing important free agents).

Is Rob Jackson restricted? I thought he was a UFA. If he's restricted I'm not worried at all. Worst case scenario we get a pick out of it.

    Penguin,

Spotrac has him as a RFA:

I think we also need a legit-ass #2 WR option. Or someone so good that Peter Waiter becomes the #2.

Maybe don't need that piece next year, but boy it would be nice. Don't see where it would come from without shelling out big bucks we don't really have for a Dwayne Bowe/Mike Wallace type.

Maybe see how much Amendola or Brian Hartline would want? I'd prefer to get a young guy in the Draft, though. Much cheaper. It's that, or hope that Hank or Robinson steps up major. Not holding my breath there. Or for Josh Morgan, either.

Clady says he’s not OK with being tagged, but not offended, either | ProFootballTalk

The Broncos have said that tackle Ryan Clady will be given the franchise tag, if the two sides don Clady told Josina Anderson of ESPN.

I think Santana can still be effective in the slot as a 30-play kinda guy. And if we get Fred back WR isn't a need as bad as CB or FS to me.
