Life long Pirate fan here, and I'm old enough to remember them being good. Their pitching staff will get knocked around and they will keep cycling throwers (not pitchers) through the rotation from the minors. At the same time, their young hitters are fun to watch. Tabata is an unsung star in the making. Walker, Alvarez and McCutcheon are nice young players, but Alvarez is a liability with his glove. They are going to have to really rake and out hit a lot of teams to hit .500, but I'd settle for that this year. That and spoiling things for others. LOL!!!

They still blew the sweep. Talk about confidence. Meek comes in and walks the first batter. I hate it when relievers do that. Still, they should hit, and they really do have a pretty good offense. They get the Cards next. I'm in regardless.

It could just be me seeing things I want to see, but the team definitely has a different air about it than last season. Everyone looks more confident, they don't have that "losing is inevitable" or "here we go again" look on their face every game. We'll see how long it lasts though. Charlie Morton pitching tonight, if he gets shelled it'll be interesting to see how the team reacts.

They didn't blow the sweep any less than the Cubs blew winning the series.
Two mediocre teams for sure.

the brewers got shut down by 1E on the braves staff. must be nice to have five legitimate aces. braves 2011 world series lock.

technically its 1D (Minor will be 1E) but basically that is the only intelligent thing you have said this whole baseball season. I agree 100%

Bucs trail 1-0 after 3 but Charlie Morton has actually pitched pretty well. Lohse has been perfect through 3.

We have some offense this year! Maybe all it means is we'll lose alot of games 8-6 instead of 8-1 but it is still refreshing to see.

Charlie Morton has given them 6 strong innings and I don't think he'll be back out in the 7th. Bucs got to Lohse in the 6th Walker doubling home two and Cutch homering to bing him in. 4-1 Bucs through 6 innings. Lots of ball left to be played here, but it is encouraging.

I think that's right. Meanwhile, they give the ball to Meek like they did in Chicago and it's 1st and 3rd with a run in an no outs. 4-2. Get him out of there. Here comes Crotta. Oh well.

Pirates manage to hang on and win 4-3. Nice inning and a third from Hanrahan. It will still come down to pitching, and at least the Bucs got 4 quality starts from this staff so far with MacDonald going tomorrow.

Angry cards fan here. They have no defense, no bullpen, and no offense. They have a outfielder playing second base, a second basemen playing shortstop, and a first basemen playing right field. They also have the dumbest manager of all time. Helen Keller could manage a team better then TLR. After Pujols leaves our best player will be someone who got hit in the junk trying to catch a fly ball in the playoffs a couple of years ago. GO CARDS!

You Cards fans can't be getting happier either. Lyle Overbay goes yard with his first dinger as a Buc. 2-0 in the top of the first. Have faith though. MacDonald got the first guy out and then walked two. Could be a long night.
