I wouldn't do anything with Chimera's line right now given how well he seems to be doing. Why dick around with the hot hand?

I wouldn't break up 25-21-42. Not sure if you are referring to Johansson or Perreault, but I would keep Perreault down on the 4th line until a guy in the top 6 gets nicked up. I would consider putting Johansson with Ovie and let those two fly around and let Knuble or Brouwer crash the net. Make the other line Backstrom and Semin with the other of 22/20. When Ovie and Backstrom are in a funk it is best to separate them 5v5, imo.

bc thats what bruce boudreau does!
i do like our play on the PP where green passes, drives straight towards the net, and then OV comes racing to the middle to hit a one timer

@TSNBobMcKenzie: More and more NHL governors convinced DET will be moving to SE Div in Eastern Conference when realignment done in early December.

Detroit has always wanted to be in the East. I think it's dumb. It takes away the premier team in the Western Conference. I would think Columbus is a better option.

Good question, but on the other side a straight Wpg for Det swap doesn't seem far fetched. There was some sort of 'promise' that Detroit had first dibs on moving east. Of course moving Nashville to the SE makes more sense, but if that promise is honored the Detroit thing is reasonable. Could also be that this would just be for a season or two. See if anyone else moves (Phx) and do the full-scale realignment after that happens.

Detroit-Chicago is a huge rivalry, but you would see the same blood with Toronto very soon thereafter...well, pretty much anyone in the original six.
The problem for Detroit is they only play Chicago out of the original six.

So...has Ovie improved at all in the last 3 years? I kind of miss him being the best player in hockey.

He's in decline already. 35-65-100 type of player now, +/- 10 points. He won't sniff 50 again.

Totally disagree with the 35-65-100 statline.
Hes got some high 40s in him for sure.

I disagree, Ovie really didn't shine until BB took off the leash and let the Caps play end-to-end offense-first style hockey, and the next season they won the conference.. After the Montreal loss everyone said it wasn't working, and they switched gears to a more defensive style, Ovie's numbers went way down, but they again won the conference... and went out in the second round. People said the 2010 playoff debacle was the fault of the system, but Caps have had playoff dysfunction forever despite the system, and last year proves that. I'm a big fan of letting Caps be the Caps; they should stop trying to emulate someone else's game. They had the guns to win in 2010, they have them now. Free Alex Ovechkin.

Ovie relies on his raw ability (which is immense) but he never put in the work to diversify his game. Defenders have figured out how to play his rushes and with the power play being complete trash his scoring ability is pretty limited.

Bruce should have been gone long ago. He's been absolutely embarrassed by Boucher and Martin in our last 2 series losses. He even got outcoached by Tortorella but talent won out.
Bruce has been VERY defensive for October. He has to know he's on the hot seat. Even the freak out over Vokoun saying he wasn't starting the opener. Seriously? you're worried about that for one regular season game? He's paranoid and he has to go. Its on Ted and GMGM at this point, they're so obsessed with staying the course they're dooming us to 10 years of this same shit.
