I don't really think Suarez's reaction to the foul is anything over-the-top to what anybody else would have done in that same scenario.
I think Atkinson saw the lead leg up, and immediately thought red before processing the rest of the tackle. He totally whiffed on the fact that (a) the other leg was down, and (b) Rodwell contacted Suarez more with his shin than his studs.

I think Newcastle could certainly finish in the top half of the table. Without something weird happening, it's hard to see them in the top 6, but I'm not sure there's another team outside of the top 6 that's clearly better than Newcastle.
I agree that they haven't played anyone at all though. But, to their credit, they're doing what they're supposed to be doing against crappy teams.

Ramsey was terrible despite the goal. Gave the ball away like 10 times. Coquelin looked more than serviceable in the midfield. Gervinho missed a sitter early on and Walcott still refuses to do anything aggressive with the ball. Mertesacker's only defensive moves today were putting his arm up trying to get offsides called.
