This team seems like they always become more aggressive at the plate in later game situations. They'll sit up there and let guys groove the first strike or two throughout the early part of the game, then go up hacking at everything and anything in the 7th inning forward. It's a bizarre approach, it's almost across the board and it's like a switch comes on so it has to be something they're being told to do.

Because this team is just like every other team we've fielded!
We've got great matchups in Boston and Toronto no longer has Doc to embarrass our lineup. We're taking this back to 2005 (12-6 Interleague record).

From a Pirates prospects website:
Watts attended Ohlone College before he went to Santa Clara. The Pirates in those days generally drafted a college catcher somewhere around the mid-teens, although more often than not they were good-field, no-hit types. By contrast, Baseball America described Watts as “decent” defensively, but he started showing some pop with the bat as a senior. As a pro he’s been a good hitter, with very good plate discipline and decent power. He’s not strong defensively, as he’s not very mobile behind the plate and doesn’t throw very well.
