The fact that Zim's camp is counter-offering is a good sign. They want this done as much as we do and they are still talking, despite the deadline passing.
Really think they work this out.

Rizzo just said they are talking through the day and that progress has been made, but they aren't at the finish line yet. Complicated, lucrative deal, etc.
This is getting done. If they felt they were too apart, they would have stuck to the deadline. They clearly think they are close.

Back to Parra ... what would Arizona want from us? Their rotation is solid 1-4 and Bauer is on a fast track to the big leagues. Back of the bullpen is good with Hernandez-Putz.
Their infield isn't great, but don't really know what we can offer there.

Someone post plausible trade scenarios for Parra.
HROD/Mattheus+Bernadina+B prospect?
I have no clue here.
No great matches, but I feel like we'd have to deal from our surplus of relievers so they could solidify their pen w/ Hernandez and Putz. And they'd need a reserve OF to replace Parra.

Best defensive outfielder in Major League Baseball. Solid on-base guy with OK pop. Massive upgrade over Ankiel and Bernadina. Under team control for cheap through 2015.

If we trade for him, yeah I think he starts in CF with Morse in left and Werth in right.
Then when LaRoche either sucks and gets released/benched or does well and gets traded, Morse goes back to 1B and Harper comes up and goes to LF.
The thing that's attractive about Parra is that he's still cheap, so if he doesn't pan out in center, it doesn't stop you from signing Upton or Bourn and you have one hell of a fourth OF.
He is arb eligible after this year, but that's not a big deal. If he has a good year, then he's worth it because you have your CF spot figured out and if he's not, you won't be paying him much more.
I'd love to get him, I just don't really see a match with them. Pray for Josh Collmenter and Daniel Hudson to go Steve Olin and Tim Crews.
I'm going to hell.

Jonathan Thomas is an upgrade over Roger Bernadina, so yes I'm down to get Parra ... I just don't see the match.

I just don't want to get stuck with an "ok" non black CF when we HAVE to make a major splash next offseason and that really puts our options at only 1B or maybe SS. That's it!
I hate having so few holes. Everything sucks.
