DeSean gets franchised by the Eagles, no big surprise. Steelers may be out of WR's after releasing Hines and tendering Wallace. Have to think someone's going to scoop Wallace up.

Steelers are doing pretty much as expected. Hines and Aaron Smith getting cut was no surprise at all. I expect several others to be going too. Hoke retired, Farrior's agent ($3million cap hit) thinks he will be next, and their strategy is to play the string out with Wallace. I think they sign him after freeing up some cap space. I bet they cut Casey Hampton too.

I think Hampton will be next and I think they will try and rework Farrior, but who knows. The problem is signing Wallace and THEN worrying about Antonio next year and if he wants a similar style contract if he continues to improve.

They got caught in a bad spot with the expiring CBA and Wallace in his 3rd year. They paid a lot of the veterans, and now they will pay either what someone else will pay Wallace or end up losing him for a 1st round draft pick. They need to sign Antonio or extend him in the middle of next season.

No reason other teams should not offer a ridiculous amount to a couple of these tendered players and give up a first rounder. Of course, maybe their teams match but 2 guys in particular are worth a ridiculous contract and a 1st rounder: Mike Wallace and Ladarius Webb.

Why wouldn't the Patriots sign Wallace? You're only giving up the 31st overall pick and it fills a need with a young, proven player.

Colbert is on record stating that Hampton will be back next year... The draft might change things if Poe drops but Colbert didn't say anything like that about any other player on the chopping block.

There is a difference between the franchise tag which DeSean Jackson and Drew Brees got and being tendered as the Steelers did with Wallace. The franchise tag means you aren't going anywhere, but will be paid like the top 5 players at your position in the league.
Had the Steelers franchised Wallace, they'd have to pay him the same money that Jackson got, and that was over $9 1/2 million for next season. If someone else offers Wallace, the Steelers can match the money or just let him go and take a first round draft pick. Brees and Jackson remain with their teams, and giving up a #1 for Brees isn't an option.

Depends if it is 'exclusive' or 'non-exclusive'...non-exclusive they can be signed away but for two first round picks. I think Jackson was non-exclusive and the Ravens non-exclusived Ngata last year. In general QB's are exclusive and other positions are non exclusive. Some QB's are worth the two picks while most position players are not.
