@FisolaNYDN: The Knicks have acquired Raymond Felton and Kurt Thomas from Portland for Jared Jeffries and Dan Gadzuric, sources tell the Daily News

welp, much as i liked linsanity, have fun with that overpay houston

The triumphant return of Kurt Thomas!

  • The Knicks getting Raymond Felton and not overpaying for Jeremy Lin is a great move because R.Felton was playing at a near all-star level before they traded him to Denver for Carmelo Anthony. The problem for the Knicks will be whether Melo allows R.Felton to run the team like he did when he played for them at the beginning of the 2010-2011 season.

With the Nets re-signing Brook Lopez to a 4-year deal, could Dwight Howard end up back in Orlando?? It's looking as if D.Howard will have no choice but to remain in Orlando. Like I wrote earlier, Orlando should've traded him for Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, Marshawn Brooks and draft picks. People who say that is a terrible deal for Orlando need to realize that when a guy is going to leave via free agency, you need to get multiple starters for him and that's what they would get in those 3 players. That's what Denver got in return for Carmelo Anthony and the Lakers did for Shaq.

Raymond Felton was HORRIBLE last year. That team is going to be a mess.

P.S. Kidd got busted for a DWI this morning in The Hamptons. Probably after he learned he was backing up Felton.

And Felton is really fat. He is the PG version of Boris Diaw.

Frankly, I think Felton is solid and you can definitely do worse, but I think there is a strong probability that his career year numbers in New York were the result of D'antoni's incredibly PG friendly, fast paced offense...similar to what he did at UNC.

His numbers last year in Portland are more in line with what he has done in his career.

  • Not picking up Lin's option is a horrendous decision. No one knows what the team will look like in that third year, and no player has been able to take over NYC the way he did in so much time. Not to mention they were winning games. Indefensible.

    cathal

  • they also won games without him?

    screamin_jay

  • I'm not sure that logic makes sense to me. i haven't seen a lot of Lin but is he worth paying 15M in three years? There's no guarantee he maintains the same level of hype that he has now.

    $25M*

I would bet a lot that Lin won't be worth close to that money

    Russell Jones

  • 15M in year 3 though, right?

    jsh

  • Oh yeah nvm I misread your post

    Russell Jones

  • In terms of production on the court, Lin definitely won't be worth $15 min in the 3rd year plus the luxury tax. However, he will make more than that for the team in terms of merchandise sales in China.

    bigshof

  • It's impossible to say what he'll be worth in three years. Look what happened when he started playing consistently for the first time - there's no reason to believe he can't get better.

    cathal

  • His production really tailed off before he got injured. He's worth it because of his current off the court value, but I doubt he ends up worth that money as a player.

    Devils0720

  • Lin is overrated in my mind. When he was putting up those numbers for that 2 week stretch he was a huge ball hog. He's not a player that scores within a well rounded offense. He would dribble around for 15 seconds looking for his shot before driving the lane. He seems like a black hole.

    dpatt173redux

  • that tends to happen with the guy running the point in d'antoni's offense. for most of that run, he was playing with no one anyhow

    screamin_jay

  • lol this is awesome. some melo quotes being twisted into him always hating lin, and suddenly the knicks are imploding! as if they were actually stable and successful at any point in the last dozen years

    screamin_jay

  • Scola to Suns.
    Jarret Jack to Golden State
Darren Collinson to Mavericks, I think pt opens up for Lance Stephenson.
Houston had no point guards before Line signing. Lowry and Dragic gone. This year will prove if Lin is legit.
Felton had some stints in his career where he looked very good, but last year was a disaster. he must slim down and get in shape. Go to P3 Strength and Conditiong, they can do wonders.
I think Denver is in on brink of resigning McGee. I hope he develops and having Blatche and Young here stinted his growth.
Denver will be force in East. I look for Jordan Hamilton to get in rotation in Denver.

Golden State is very intriquing with Bogut, Barnes and Klay Thompson who has added many dimesions to his game. He fits well wiith Barnes. Ezeli and Green were great picks.
Jeffery Taylor looks great as does MKG.
    Kim English looks legit.
    Kyrie Irving broke hand, WTF?
I think Jeremy Lamb will be a star as Beal. Barnes in time.

I am predicting Wizards make playoffs at 7 or 8.

  • Denver will be force in West.
I have Nuggets in top 4 in west.
Blake Griffin knee has torn cartilage/mensiscus. I sure hope his injury trend does not continue.
I think Bynum is an injury waiting to happen. If I was a GM I would not pursue him because one leg is longer than other and he is an idiot.

  • Just saw on the espn ticker:

Humphries 2/$24 to stay with Nets
    OJ Mayo to Mavs

    sgii

  • Grant Hill signed with the Clippers. They've had a really good offseason if Odom gets his shit together and Hill has anything left.

I wonder if the Nets are trying to position themselves to make a big trade for Howard at the trade deadline in 2013. They now have both Humphies and Lopez signed (plus other pieces)

Good point, maybe Howard refuses to sign this year, he is RFA correct?
I think right now Nets aaround a 5 or 6 seed.
Humphries had a very good year. Lopez seems to be injury prone. Did Howard have back surgery yet?

On another note Rockets are loaded.
After having bad game Royce White looked great, Jeremy Lamb will be a star and Terrence Jones could be. Chandler Parsons is preety good.
The Rockets have 2 very nice point guards in summer league.
Courtney Fortson looks like a very solid roation player, even though he is about 5'8". Fortson and Machado really control game and make others better,
Also, the Lituianian 7 footer is real good.

The Warriors will be greatly improved, watch out for Klay Thompson this year. They had great fraft , Barnes, Ezeli and Green and Bogut comes back. The key will be keeping Bogut healthy and as well as Curry.

Wizards will be a playoff team if healthy. I think they are dangerous.

    JLK33

  • evidently dave neal playing in a summer league?

Nolan Smith wheeled off court at Cox on stretcher after suffering a injury late in the Portland-Houston game. Details forthcoming.
