I'm going to go out on a limb and say The best bullpen in baseball is better than your bullpen.

stats wise, it shows the o's as having a better group.

but if you were to take strop/lindrstom/johnson vs. clippard/burnett/storen (coming back soon), i think it's a legit debate.

obviously i'd take the o's other arms over the likes of henry rodriguez who is on his way back soon unfortunately.

ZOMG AMBER SAID IT SO IT MUST BE TRUE!!!1!

OMG, She was stating a fact! LOL, Amber's baseball knowledge would put yours to shame.

I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?

I never said she wasn't knowledgeable. But it's not possible to for a statement like "best bullpen in baseball" to be a 100% fact, especially across leagues.

It is true that the Orioles bullpen has by far the best ERA in baseball, and it's not even close (0.32 better than anyone else).

But in terms of BAA, they're fourth (for the record, we're third).

We both have pretty awesome bullpens. But if you think it's a 100% fact that the Orioles have the best bullpen in baseball, you're even dumber than I thought you were (and that's saying a lot).

I would feel quite slattered if Harper's ceiling ended up being Adam Jones.

Hope he ever gets to be as good as Jones is right now.

I know you're new to following baseball but having better results against better competition makes it rather obvious that you are better. Things like this will become more clear more you after a few more years of following the sport. Being you and throwing out the word dumb in baseball threads may not be your best move.

Well until that 0-for-7 game they basically had the same OPS, so I'm pretty sure they're already in the same ballpark as hitters.

  • Jones is having a great year, no doubt, and he's one of my fave players in MLB. His May was outstanding, just straight up filthy (.298 AVG/.985 OPS - wow - 10 HR, 22 RBI,16 total extra base hits).

But you do have to give credit to Harper though, especially for what he's doing this month...

    Harper: .308/.392/.508 (.900 OPS), 4 2B, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 9 BB/16 K, 3 SB in 17 games (74 plate appearances)
    Jones: .268/.307/.408 (.715 OPS), 4 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 3 BB/14 K, SB in 18 games (75 plate appearances)

Granted it's just one month and Jones has been doing it for years, Harper is going to be a special talent.

    rufreshterps

  • Until this season, Jones had never had an OPS higher than .785 at the major league level. I'm pretty sure Harper will go his entire career (sans maybe a year or two near the end) without ever having an OPS that low.

Yea just go ahead and go full on moron and say Harper is better than Jones right now. We all know thats what you really want to do. Harper is playing great. Saying you should hope he is as good as jones is, is not a put down just a comment that you should hope that he does develop further. Not saying he won't but its baseball it is not a given. Sometimes guys are what they are at 22 sometimes they get better at 25, 30, 35. Its a funny game and a game of constant adjustments. That is what the great players all can do, adjust when the league figures out their weak points.

  • You said "Hope he ever gets to be as good as Jones is right now."

I'm not sure why I should since he basically already is. If he plays the next 15-20 years and never improves on his age 19 season, I'd consider that disappointing.

I don't think he's better than Jones now, but his ceiling his much, much higher.

Is it crazy to think that a 19-year-old who is considered a once-in-a-lifetime-type of prospect who is OPS'ing .875 is as good as a guy who's never finished a season with an OPS above .800?

Yeah it's pretty crazy to think a 19-year-old putting up numbers seen only once in 100+ years of baseball history from someone his age is as good as a guy with a .773 career OPS.

I said he's basically as good as Adam Jones, not Joey Votto.

HAHAHAH dude whats it like choking all the time. Because with your mouth that far around his cock I am surprised you can breathe.

Once in a lifetime would make him better than Mike Trout which hes not. Stephen Strasburg to me was a once in a lifetime type prospect. Power hitting Corner OF's are a dime a dozen.

ADAM Jones is 10x better than Bryce Harper right now. Keep making yourselves look like the baseball idiots we know nats fans to be with such ridiculous statements.

don't be a douche Unless you agree that bryce harper is the equal of Adam Jones right now today.

Adam Jones right now is an MVP candidate. Bryce Harper isn't there yet. To say that one is as good as the other right now is stupid. I don't care what your OPS says. You can see clearly who is at the next level in their career and who is in the early stages.
