Miguel is on fire, but I don't think he'll catch Trout in BA. Then again, stranger things have happened....

He has won a batting title before and he is crazy hot. Comerica sets up well for him. Spacious park where he can just rake all over the field. Plus he has Fielder protecting him and Jackson getting on in front of him. Pitchers have to pitch to him. In addition, switching to 3rd was the best thing for him. It forces him to keep the weight off and he is just an ox now. His bombs to center look effortless.

  • haven't triple crown winners missed out on winning mvp awards before? where are the spikes

The one he hit to center for his 300th I think just landed on Mars. That was a shot.

#2 to Trout IMO, but the situation definitely helps Bernadina's cause

Attached is Olney weighing in on the MVP talk. Interesting that he mentions playoffs as being a factor, and that there is a player within Trout's universe.

  • If the season were to end today, how would the tiebreaker for the AL wildcard work? I know what they would do if 3 teams tied for the second wc spot, but can't figure out the procedure if 3 teams tied for the top wc spot.

  • "Bryce Harper>Mike Trout, according to SportsCenter: Bryce Harper has a triple slash of .254/.330/.415, a WAR of 1.6, and just two home runs since the beginning of July. Mike Trout (.346/.409/.601), is not only on pace to win the AL MVP, but he may end up having one of the greatest individual seasons of all time. Trout received 10 mentions on SportsCenter this week, while Harper got 26. Maybe by next week Trout will learn that he needs to call out the clowness of a question to get the attention he truly deserves, bro."

Because Harper plays in our Nation's capital for the best team in baseball (by record, not booking the world series just yet).

    Obviously Trout>Harper

edit: didn't see that was from the article

As well as playing for an east coast team whose games are done by the time SC starts.

  • Is there an ESPN D.C. yet? All that damned Tebow coverage starts with ESPN New York, and Trout deserves the coverage that he gets from ESPN Los Angeles. The market where these guys play gets them a ton of exposure, and guys in the other markets just don't get that much attention by comparison. IMO.

45 minutes into Sportscenter. Still no Pirates.

That was what I kept trying to figure out. I mean, I've had interactions with Bucci before over hockey and he was the one who said it, but it was still a head-scratcher. I'm guessing they had something just constantly checking for any post related to Sportscenter -- hashtag or not.

I think Joaquin Benoit is on the take, the way he's been serving up gopher balls. Two days in a row the bullpen's "efforts" have undermined a hot-hitting team. Oh well, on to Texas.

In fairness, the starting pitching wasn't exactly brilliant yesterday.

  • No it wasn't. Since becoming a Tiger, Sanchez has one shaky start, one good start, and one shaky start. Which means he's due for a good start next time fingergun.
