Freeh report on #PennState: "Messrs. Spanier, Schultz, Paterno and Curley never demonstrated, through actions or words, any concern ..."

Cont..."...for the safety and well-being of Sandusky's victims until after Sandusky's arrest."

    goodbye endowment...goodbye PSU

  • Wow. Can't wait to see the cult members pick that apart and isolate Joe from any responsibility. What a piece of shit. I wish he was alive to have to answer to this.

  • They're "rationalizing" it by saying the report didn't speak to any of the key players so it must've been biased to make the BOT look good. As if they didn't TRY to interview Curley, Spanier, McQueary, and Paterno.

#Freeh report says #Paterno followed 1998 report closely. He denied that when he testified before grand jury

Oh, so he lied to a grand jury too?

    goheels1117

  • After Mr. Curley consulted with Mr. Paterno, however, they changed the plan and decided not to make a report to the authorities.

How can anyone, in sound mind, defend that? What a goddamn piece of shit.

Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.

I seriously doubt it. I bet their football program doesn't get it any worse than Miami/UNC/Ohio State when it's all said and done.

Paterno knew about the incident in 98 too. I think anyone abused after 98 should divide up the entire pedophile state endowment.

I keep hearing this but is this case even in the NCAA's purview?

“Like everyone else, we are reviewing the final report for the first time today. As President Emmert wrote in his November 17th letter to Penn State President Rodney Erickson and reiterated this week, the university has four key questions, concerning compliance with institutional control and ethics policies, to which it now needs to respond. Penn State’s response to the letter will inform our next steps, including whether or not to take further action. We expect Penn State’s continued cooperation in our examination of these issues.”

  • "Based on the evidence, the only known, intervening factor between the decision
made on February 25, 2001 by Messrs. Spanier, Curley and Schulz to report the
incident to the Department of Public Welfare, and then agreeing not to do so on
February 27th, was Mr. Paterno’s February 26th conversation with Mr. Curley."

"The evidence shows that these four men also knew about a 1998 criminal
investigation of Sandusky relating to suspected sexual misconduct with a young boy in
a Penn State football locker room shower. Again, they showed no concern about that
victim. The evidence shows that Mr. Paterno was made aware of the 1998 investigation
of Sandusky, followed it closely, but failed to take any action, even though Sandusky
had been a key member of his coaching staff for almost 30 years, and had an office just
    steps away from Mr. Paterno’s."

  • One of the screenshots above mentioned "119 recommendations". Are any of these recommendations for punishment to the football program?

  • The NCAA cares about PR far mor than what's actually within their purview. No chance they do nothing.

I doubt it too, but then again I didn't expect USC to get smacked as hard as they did. Also isn't the Miami stuff still under investigation?

Yeah. The fans defending Paterno and everyone else need to stop wasting their breath and get busy raising funds for some kind of liability trust fund.

  • The NCAA has to act on this since, IMO, PSU didn't move on this for fear of damage specifically to the football program. If this was a random teacher at PSU files would have been charged immediately. This was solely to protect the football program. If they turn a blind eye whats to stop other schools to do the same thing in the future (even to lesser extents)

    MoJoTerp13

  • CNN just showed a couple interviews with people on campus. I don't even think they believe their own BS. You could see the lady swallowing hard as she got out "Paterno and the football program had nothing to do with this"

    Terp08

  • they didn't comply with Cleary act either

Yes, just reading the press release and sections of the full report... the NCAA HAS to act harshly. Citing the culture that the football program built as reasons why crimes weren't reported... not just covering up, but breaking laws in the process. You can't just fire a coaching staff and move on.

Miami is still under investigation. Last I heard about it though, former Hurricanes were stonewalling the NCAA so they were having trouble confirming everything in Yahoo's report.

    Money paragraph:

"Four of the most powerful people at The Pennsylvania State University - President Graham B. Spanier, Senior Vice President-Finance and Business Gary C. Schultz, Athletic Director Timothy M. Curley, and Head Football Coach Joseph V. Paterno - failed to protect against a child sexual predator harming children for over a decade. These men concealed Sandusky's activities from the Board of Trustees, the Univesrity community, and authorities. They exhibited a striking lack of empathy for Sandusky's victims by failing to inquire as to their safety as well-being, especially by not attempting to determine the identity of the child who Sandusky assaulted in the Lasch Building in 2001. Further, they exposed the child to additional harm by alerting Sandusky, who was the only one who knew the child's identity, of what McQueary saw in the shower on the night of February 9, 2001."
