  • Since at the time all we thought we had was a sicko ex-coach, no I don't think we should have self-imposed. What the school did do was fire a legendary head coach, fire the University President, and put everyone involved on leave. I can't believe it, but the BOT is looking pretty smart right now. Maybe too smart. Where was it said that PSU didn't take the NCAA investigation seriously? Seems like the University made some very decisive actions due to the investigations.

    Estates are typically held open for 12 months to allow for claims...

    You bet it is, $50 million reasons/year it is about football.

    This child predator was allowed to carry on ruining kids lives so PSU did not have to admit to a horrendous scandal within the football program which would have negatively affected recruiting and therefore the results on the field.

    Maryland basketball gets a near dead penalty because a head coach lied to protect his program about giving rides to a kid so he could attend junior college classes. PSU covers up outing a known perp who accumulated, both before and after their cover up, 45 criminal guilty verdicts of sodomy with minor boys, all to protect its football program. If there is any justice whatever, PSU should get a near death penalty in football.

    I will not hold my breath as the NCAA is selectively outraged by actions of its members.

    And FWIW, it's a stupid comparison because Coach K doesn't have the same power at Duke. When it comes down to it, the academics at Duke will be in control over athletics if there's a crisis. As an alum, I'd rather give up athletic scholarships entirely than go through even the academic scandal UNC is going through. I know it's not the same as basketball, but look how quickly the academics turned on the lacrosse program. There's also not the same local alumni fanbase supporting athletics that a PSU has.
