Why would anyone care about fan bases or team history? You'd have to live in Detroit.
Have to go LA over NY for basketball because of ownership/weather related issues.

Well, if you didn't care at all about winning, then the correct answer for every sport would be either San Diego or Miami. If I were a pro athlete, I'd like a few rings to go with my millions and huge mansion. You could always have an offseason home in a warmer clime.
As for strO's question, maybe you should ask Luc Robitaille (amongst other free agents) why did he leave LA to play in Detroit. I mean, Luc was the man for the Kings, and is French speaking Canadian. Why didn't he go to Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver? Also note that the Habs and Leafs have more Cups than the Red Wings, while the Canucks still have zero.

Did you read the question? The team you're playing for has nothing to do with it so even if you care about past championships the Red Wings 11 don't come into play.

I can totally see why the Orioles always get the best free agents, because they can just show pictures of Canton and Harbor East. Why care about winning when you can live near the water!
Although if i could, I'd definitely consider Georgetown if I were a FA baseball player and looking at the Nats.

i didnt say i didnt care about winning but you have to factor in livability as well and sorry but Detroit has to be near the bottom.
id take Detroit over Columbus. :)

Good point, in Detroit you'd have to have at least 3 guns on you at all times, and it gets terribly cold in the winter. Columbus is the worst place in the America haha

Because I am a rational human being, I would have to weigh the money against other factors. Them having won 14 championships in the past and having great fans would be down on the list. More important would be location, facilities, ownership/management, etc.
