Is your team weak in any particular area?

No, it's actually pretty damn stacked. You might argue I'm weak at 1B, but Swisher is lights out so far I just feel like no chance it lasts. Roster:

    C: Napoli
    1B: Swisher
    2B: Cano
    3B: Beltre, Headley
    SS: Rollins, Peralta
OF: Hamilton, Beltran, Heyward, Reimold, Schafer

SP: Cain, Beckett, Wilson, Lohse, Colon
    RP: Cordero, League, Broxton

So I could use infield depth and I think Swisher is a perfect sell-high candidate.

    ravensnterps

  • Infield depth OR pitching help. I like your staff, but your closers are shaky and/or trade candidates. Your rotation is strong, but how much you can count on Beckett/Lohse/Colon is questionable.

Is this a standard league with BA? If it is an OBP league, Swisher is even more valuable.

    fearthenoodle

  • No OBP. Also Swisher is my ONLY 1B so I have to be careful. What types of players should I target/are realistic in your opinion?

    ravensnterps

  • If I get a chance I'll try to look at specific players, but if you are looking to deal I'd probably try and package Swisher and one of your hot start pitchers (Lohse or Colon) for maybe a better 1B.

A guy I would not include in a deal right now is Headley, considering Beltre's hammy is acting up again.

    How deep is the league?

12 teams. Yeah gotta hold on to Headley b/c of Beltre's hammy.

    ravensnterps

  • The big question is who you would get to play 1B. Is there anyone available in FA that is decent, or are you looking to get back a lesser 1B in any deal you try to make?

    fearthenoodle

  • Prob a lesser 1B. I was thinking I could try Swisher and Colon for Billy Butler and a closer or something?

    ravensnterps

  • I like Butler a lot, and he's off to a hot start, too. Doesn't have the counting stats of Swisher, though. If you could make that deal, I probably would. Then you could try flipping one of your temp. closers for some more depth if you wanted.

Yeah the dude who has Butler has like a ton of good starting pitching (Strasburg, Lee, Lincecum, EJAX, Burnett, Humber plus 4ish closers including Casilla - plus Motte, Marshall, and Nathan) and not much offense (Ellsbury and Young are on the DL - he also just lost Cliff Lee to the DL).

  • Kemp for Bourn, Stanton and Sean Marshall? Any thoughts? I'd be getting Kemp back. It would weaken my overall outfield substantially and also hit me pretty hard at closer. My concern is Stanton's knee and the big ballpark down there but I'm obviously not happy that I am buying Kemp at the highest possible value. I tried to get him to toss in another outfielder like Jennings or Hart but no dice.

No offense, but there is no way to accurately give advice without knowing who your replacements would be for the other OF and P spots. The deeper your bench, the better that trade is

10 team or 12 team mixed league then do the trade. Stanton's knee is worrisome and closers can be found on the wire. You'd lose about 30 steals on the trade but speed can be found on the wire in most cases.

  • Should I start Moore against the Angels?

He hasn't been HORRIBLE, but he hasn't been very good either

I just embarrassed myself with this post

    HamsterHuey

  • I figured it would be hard to tell without me giving more specifics.

You start CF, LF, RF and OF. I'd have Kemp in CF, then I could have Delmon Young, Nolan Reimold, Logan Morrison or Luke Scott to fill the LF and OF spots. I do not have a RF on my roster, so I'd have to fill that from the waiver wire. It is 10-team mixed, but there are no closers on the waiver wire, so losing a closer would hurt me in saves, and probably slightly in WHIP, K/9 and ERA as well.

    charmcity3131

  • I would start Moore. The Angels are awful for some reason.

    charmcity3131

  • Just picked up Chad Billingsley off the FA list LOL LOL LOL

    ravensnterps

  • I have a free roster spot with Longoria going to the DL.

    12 team 5x5, mixed.

My pitching staff is great, but no bench other than Teheran who I'm stashing, so I'm looking for upside filler. Weekly lineups, so this guy would only start in very specific circumstances like a 2 start week against crappy teams or I go down to 2 closers b/c of who my opponent is.

My rotation is Stras, Grienke, Bumgarner, Hanson -- and then Motte, Marshall, Perez at CL.

These are the SPs I'm considering:

    Drew Smyly
    Jarrod Parker
    Anthony Bass
    Gavin Floyd
    James McDonald

Anyone feel strongly about anyone on that list?

    Sveiks

  • Smyly or McDonald would be my top two... probably in that order. Smyly has always had pretty good k/9 numbers and he's got pretty good run support behind him.

    RUbaseball

  • welp shoulda traded swisher when i had the chance lol. my team is hurting this week with Hamilton, Swisher, Beckett, Beltre, Schaefer, Heyward and Reimold all missing time. What the fuck!

  • Bass has a great matchup tonight against the Marlins. He also Ks a bunch too and has been just as good as anyone in that group

I just embarrassed myself with this post

    HamsterHuey

  • I have Desmond Jennings in a league that you can update once a week and has to be done by midnight on Monday. Jennings is listed as day to day with a knee sprain and traveled with the team to NY. Should I start him? And if not who should I play instead... Kendry morales or Yunel Escobar?

    Why always Boris?

    Besus

  • My team last night (thanks Josh Hamilton and Carlos Beltran!):

    13/37 - .351
    11 Runs
    8 HR
    16 RBI

Had a similar day on 4/17 when my team was .400 with 8 runs, 5 HR and 13 RBI.

    Just ridiculous.

Also some clown let Hardy go so I picked him up. I offered Swisher and Jhonny Peralta for Billy Butler and Jason Motte...thoughts? Also offered Swisher and Jimmy Rollins for Matt Weiters and Lucas Duda. Seems far fetched, though.
