  • Are these the only 2 protected players or are you already protecting anyone else from rounds 1-10?

  • Cahill and Hellickson at first glance.

    WheresWallace

  • I was going to say Napoli and Hellickson. It is ridiculous just how much better Napoli is than every other fantasy catcher right now. And he only played 113 games last year.

    No other protections....

I think Hellickson is a given....need more convincing on Cahill.

I've seen Napoli highly ranked, but I'm scratching my head as to why.

  • Napoli was my next choice. I'm always so weary of drafting him because of how many games he sits, but he still puts up crazy numbers.

A catcher who hit .320 with 30 HRs in only 113 games last year. No VMart this year and Posey coming off an injury.

    fearthenoodle

  • If I took Kendrick, it'd be my 4th straight year w/ him. We're tight. Probably safe to roll the dice on him being available later in the draft?

It made no sense for him to sit as much as he did last year. I think he should play in more games this year if he is healthy.

That's what gets me, but noodle may have swayed me.

  • It depends on if you believe Cahill will play more like 2010 than 2011. He's only 23. I believe I read somewhere that Cahill's stats were skewed by a few very bad games, which made him more valuable than the rankings indicated in h2h leagues.

(Napoli still probably a better pick... but I do like Cahill as a sleeper this year)

Cahill going to AZ from Oakland might not help him much.

Here is the results of a mock draft this past weekend in an "experts" league. 15-team mixed.

Napoli went 32nd overall (3rd round)
Kendrick went 85th overall (6th round)
Hellickson went 156th overall (11th round)
Cahill went 218th overall (15th round)

Just to give you some idea of value (obviously all leagues are different).

There's no question Napoli is one of the guys you keep JJ. It's than a toss-up between Hellickson and Cahill. Might go Cahill since he gets the league change. Arizona isn't the best place for a pitcher but he'll face easier lineups.

  • 6x6 keeper league where we keep 6

My keepers probably are going to be

    Kinsler
    Braun
    Kershaw
    Halladay
Moore (special rule, don't worry about him)

And i'm deciding between arod and posey. Would I be dumb to keep posey over arod? I heart him but i'm afraid that he'll really struggle after the big injury. I'm also sick of dealing w/ arod

I just embarrassed myself with this post

    HamsterHuey

  • Santana had the same or a similar injury, no? I think Posey will be fine, I'd keep him over A-Rod at this point.

  • N-N-N-N-Napoli know how

    Follow up question to this

Would you do Kinsler for Fielder and Holliday?

Pretty good return, no? I'm not entirely sold on Holliday. I think he's going to be hurt by Pujols not being in the lineup

  • Draft results (head to head league):
    C - Napoli
    1B - A. Gonzalez
    2B - D. Espinosa
    3B - Longoria
    SS - D. Gordon
    OF - Hamilton, Bruce, Werth
    Util - Cespedes
Bench - Maybin, Y. Escobar, Bourjos, Rajai Davis
SP - King Felix, D. Price, J. Hellickson, Gallardo, Scherzer, C. Lewis, E. Jackson, B. McCarthy
    RP - J. Valverde, B. Wilson, F. Salas

I kind of hate my offense. I really got handcuffed on a couple picks where everyone in my queue got snatched in the 4 picks preceding mine....hence Jay Bruce and Jayson Werth in my outfield. Amazed I got Cespedes in the 17th (keeper round)...I hope he pans out. Really weak at 2B and SS....the cupboard was bare, so I waited for late rounds to get some possibly high upside guys. Maybe Gordon will surprise at short.

I'm digging my pitching staff. May have taken Price a bit early (5th) and Gallardo is going to drop off, but I think I'm in good shape for wins and Ks.

    Thoughts?

Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.

    JJBittenbinder

  • I'd start Escobar over Gordon. I like your offense, Espinosa is a likely hole but everyone else seems either strong or average.

I'd do that deal. I like Kinsler but he's entering his age 30 season and he's never been that durable. 2B typically fall off pretty fast so I'd sell him now maybe a year too early rather than hold him during his decline.

  • Bump.

    fearthenoodle

  • Thanks for bumping this ftn, but if you're going to do that, you migh as well at least address my question in the locked thread.

Draft is in 20 minutes. If anyone wants to chime in, that would be a fun thing to do for me.

I have my draft tonight. 12 team mixed, no crazy categories/scoring. Start 3 OF and one UTIL. I have the 12th pick and then the 13th.

I plan on taking two of these five and would appreciate some advice on how to order them. I realize that in all likelihood 3 of those guys might be gone and my decision will be made for me. But in a perfect world...

Currently I have them like this:

    Longoria
    Fielder
    CarGo
    Upton
    Reyes

    Sveiks

  • Everyone loves threads where people post their teams. Well, here's how my draft worked out (12 team mixed, obp in place of avg, up to 3 keepers at a 3 round penalty each year).

    C -- Wieters, J. Montero
    1B -- Trumbo, Dunn, Gamel
    2B -- Kendrick
    3B -- Longoria
    SS -- D. Gordon, Desmond
    OF -- J. Upton, N. Cruz, A. Jones, Ichiro
UTIL -- one of the guys from above

SPs...Strasburg (kept from last year, 17th rounder this year), Grienke, Bumgarner, Hanson, Worley, Teheran (last round pick)
    RPs...Motte, S. Marshall, C. Perez

It's okay. OBP is going to be an issue, but once Trumbo has 3B eligibility and Montero has C, I should have some valuable surplus that I can turn into something interesting.
